Resubmission
Resubmission (one further go) is available in some instances for internal assessments. It is allowed if a student has missed out on gaining an achieved grade because of one or two mistakes. They must be able to identify their own errors. They rework only those answers that were not sufficient. The teacher does not tell them what to do – just that the answer needs to be improved. Some teachers allow oral conferencing to cover this and sign it off. The highest possible grade that can be obtained through a resubmission is Achieved.
Reassessment
The issue of reassessment applies only to internally assessed standards. Reassessment tasks, although designed to assess the same standard, will not to be the same task as the original one. There will be only one reassessment opportunity offered and only where it is appropriate.
There is no reassessment opportunity for externally assessed Achievement Standards other than sitting the assessment tasks in the following year.
The decision to provide reassessment opportunities is up to the professional judgement of the HOLA.
A further assessment opportunity is possible for all students to improve their grade. If they meet the required standard on their second attempt, they will have the appropriate level of their achievement recorded and reported. Students are given credit for the level they achieve in the reassessment.
It is the decision of the HOLA if, and when, the reassessment opportunities take place.
