About this class

In Drama you will learn about lots of different types of theatre form from Musicals to Kabuki.

Students will engage in acting for the stage and learning to be on the stage using popular themes and stories.

We will explore different theatre technologies such as special effects make-up, costuming, prop design and mask making.


What it leads into in Year 10

In year 10 students develop their own plays which is called devising. We learn to work with scripts and develop our performing arts technology ideas further with more challenging special effects designs and set designing. We also have a focus on performing with students working from scripts and having more performance opportunities.


What it leads into as career

Drama has many pathways: Acting, behind scene work such as being a stagehand, directing, lighting, stage construction, make-up, in the movie industries and beauty markets. Costume designing and dress making. Drama is one of the courses suggested to law students. It also helps with job interviews and many other industries.

Drama covers many different parts of theatre. In this course you will explore:
