We welcome all classified employees at LBCC to join our association!
While all classified employees are automatically covered by the bargained contract, becoming a member of the association brings additional benefits, such as voting on contracts, filling leadership positions, and qualifying for educational scholarships. Most importantly, perhaps, becoming a member shows the College that you support the Association and what we are trying to accomplish for Classified employees at LBCC. That support is the key to our ability to change our work place for the better. Among other things, IACE has:
Negotiated annual step increases that are built into our salary schedule that provide yearly raises that are 2% above the cost-of-living increase, something that Management/Exempt staff still do not have;
Enhanced job security by providing qualified staff facing a layoff to A RIGHT (not a preference) to fill open positions;
Established fully-paid, comprehensive family health insurance (not provided to any other employee group at LBCC);
Provided over 150 Thanksgiving food baskets to needy members of the LB community;
Held monthly meetings during work-time that give members an opportunity to raise issues and get questions answered;
Protected members against arbitrary discipline due to the "just cause" provision in our contract;
Negotiated a fund of over $40,000 annually to fund professional development opportunities for classified staff, over and above classes paid for by College departments and tuition waiver benefit.
