IACE is the Independent Association of Classified Employees at Linn-Benton Community College. We have been representing Classified staff at LBCC since 1997. We elect co-workers to represent us and negotiate a contract with the College that provides for pay raises, health insurance and other terms of our employment. We also work to promote the College and build community among Classified staff.
IACE is what we all make it. Our members decide what we stand for and what we do. Get involved so IACE can give voice to your concerns. Come to the IACE membership meetings monthly. Generally 2 p.m. on the third Thursday of each month.
Working together makes us most effective!
One of IACE's most important activities is negotiating a good contract with the College that sets our pay, hours, benefits, and working conditions. Every employee has a right to have say in what should be in the contract, and every IACE member has the right to vote on the final agreement. We also need your involvement and support to win a good contract. The rights and benefits in the contract are guaranteed for all classified employees, but only IACE members can vote on the final agreement. The College cannot make any changes without negotiating with the IACE.
Classified Staff, the heart of LBCC
IACE holds events throughout the year to bring Classified employees together. We hold an Ice Cream Social, a Fun Run, and Spring Social (in non-Covid years). We help organize Thanksgiving baskets for in-need students and staff. We host Thank-o-Grams and Care-o-Grams. We aim to bring all classified employees together to support one another. Come to our activities and general meeting so you can get to know other Classified employees better!
Do you feel you're not being treated fairly? Do you have concerns about your paychecks? Is your manager reprimanding you for things you did not do? IACE is here to help you receive fair treatment and and the resources you need to provide service that you can be proud of.
We have two elected Professional Relations officers who can advise you and help you present your concerns to the College. Find their information on the Officers & Area Reps page.
IACE is supported by your dues.
Dues for the Classified Association shall be 0.35% of gross monthly pay and will be deducted by the payroll department from each member's monthly paycheck during months worked. Increase in dues rates may only take place if first approved by the Executive Board and then by a majority vote of the members of the Classified Association. These funds stay with our independent association to support our work advocating for classified staff. Dues are used for member events, operations (e.g., elections) and member recognition. We also hire an attorney who provides us with professional advice in negotiating our contracts and assisting members with legal representation in the workplace. Members can also contribute an additional $1.00 per month to support a fund that provides scholarships to IACE members and their dependents.
