SOC205 is an introductory course for sociology majors and for students seeking general credit. In this course, students use sociological principles to critically analyze social problems and explore causes, consequences, and solutions. Topics can include poverty, racism, mass incarceration, education, homelessness, addiction, policing, climate change, and more.
This course incorporates a variety of instructional materials, including: weekly content quizzes, independent assignments, and prompts to facilitate written reflections and interactive discussions.
Included in this course pack are a course map, syllabus, instructor guide, and an assessment package that includes a description of the term-long project. The course readings include an open textbook for each topic.
