Position Title: Volunteer Tutor for Adult Basic Literacy Program
Time Commitment: At least 1 hour per week, preferably more
Duties: Work with adults (18th birthday and beyond) who read below a 5th grade level

1. Attend the new tutor orientation.
2. Be a positive support in helping the tutee/tutees achieve their academic goals.
3. Become familiar with different learning styles and techniques, so that you may choose the appropriate method to use with a tutee or group of tutees.
4. Be reliable and punctual for appointment times. Give as much notice as possible if you are unable to attend a tutoring session.
5. Record completed tutoring hours every week to the online Tutor Hour Log.
6. Keep all tutee information confidential.
7. Meet in predetermined and approved locations (must be securable/monitored)
a. These include public libraries, LBCC libraries/centers, community rooms (in town halls, fire stations, youth centers).
8. Communicate respectfully and tactfully.
9. Focus on one thing at a time, and take your time.
10. Contact the Coordinator if you have any questions or concerns.
