Pastoral notes are a feature of SEQTA that are used at Lindisfarne Anglican Grammar School. They are an effective way to capture important information about students.
The main pastoral notes to be used by teachers are; Wellbeing, Commendation, Behavioural Concern and S1 Detention. This page provides you with writing guidelines and who to notify.

Wellbeing pastoral notes can best be described as 'teacher talk'. They are neutral and include when a teacher sees a student who is upset, is aware a student needs some extra care, is recovering from an injury or is having difficulty getting around school.
Description
Provide your observation or share the relevant information relating to the student's wellbeing.
"Tim is wearing sneakers this week while he is recovering from a sports injury"

Emailing parents is discretionary. for example, if the student is wearing the sport uniform with a note, you may notify parents as a way to double-check.
Commendations are a simple yet effective way of recognising students who are demonstrating the Lindisfarne Way. There are two subcategories, 'Lindisfarne Value and Culture' and 'Academic'.

Academic
Academic Commendation can be used by teachers when they see exceptional student effort, improvement or accomplishment in class.
Description
Link student behaviour to the Lindisfarne Values and Cultural Drivers. As the message can be sent to the student, they can be acknowledged directly in the message.
"Tim graciously helped his peers with some challenging work today. Thank you Tim!"

Behaviour that is uncharacteristic of the students and below the expectation of the School should be captured in a Behavioural Concern pastoral note.

Behaviour that contravenes the Lindisfarne student code of conduct, and school policy and has resulted in a detention is to be entered as an S1 Detention.
