Old-Timey Skills: Cursive Writing & Typing with Wood Blocks with Ms. Nam (Mondays for Grades 5-8 Only)
Do you wish you can write in fancy, flowing cursive? And know how to read old-timey documents? All without a computer? Learning to write in cursive and "type" with (tiny) wood blocks will also help you with spelling and writing by making you slow way down and seriously concentrate. This is also a great chance to express your artistic side -- you can add designs and decorations to your cursive and typeset letters, missives, invitations, and declarations! This club will meet on Monday afternoons.
Art Club with Ms. DiBiase (Tuesdays for Grades 5-8 Only)
If you enjoy art and creating, this is the club for you! In this club students will use different mediums to experiment and express themselves creatively. Additionally, students who requested a crochet club can join this club and use this time to learn and practice crochet! This club will meet on Tuesday afternoons.
Play Reading Club with Ms. Hall (Tuesdays for Grades 5-8 Only)
Looking for a chance to read plays with other students, to play lots of different characters, and provide input about next year's productions? Join the Play Reading Club to do all of these fun things with a group of your fellow theater and drama-loving peers. This club will meet on Tuesday afternoons.
LAW & ORDER: Mock Trial with Ms. Nam (Tuesdays for Grades 5-8 Only)
Are you curious or passionate about the United States legal system? Want to learn about our Constitutional rights? Try your hand at being a lawyer, a judge, a witness, a juror? You will learn some basic processes about the United States legal system, mainly through role playing in a mock trial. We need at least six students for this program to run, so sign up with a friend. This club will meet on Tuesday afternoons.
Creative Writers' Workshop with Ms. Skelton (Thursdays for Grades 5-8 Only)
Objective: To empower aspiring writers with the tools to take an idea from inception to the page!
In our Creative Writers' Workshop, students will be able to work on pieces they have already started or begin something completely new. Whether it's poetry, a short story, or the beginning of a graphic novel, students will be able to use the workshop format to practice their creative writing skills! Students will also be able to use this time to submit work to local, state, and/or national writing contests. This club will meet on Thursday afternoons.
