Academic Highlights
Students are writing strong narrative stories that revolve around themes of hope, determination, and support from others! Ask them to share thier stories with you!
Students are on a pause from Social Studies as they learn about Science.
Students are in Unit 3 of Everyday Math. They are learning about fractions and their connection to division! They are also learning about how to compare, order, add, and subtract fractions.
Students are learning about the suns position, Earth's spheres, shadows, and about the water cycle. We also had Major Mitchell from Space Force join us for a connection! Check out the spotlight moments below.
Community
We currently are in our Cultures & Traditions unit. Students learned about the different aspects of cultures and how traditions can be culturally or family based. They were asked to talk with their families to learn more about their cultures and traditions. Over the two weeks, students will create a slideshow to share about their cultures and traditions to share with a classmate!
Talk About It- Questions to Ask at Home!
On December 5th, Guardian Major Mitchell joined the fifth graders to explain SpaceForce! They learned about the different impacts SpaceForce has on our community, about satelittes and GPS tracking, and the different tracks individual can take to become Guardians.
Here is the link to Keep Track. It is a great satellite tracker to explore as a family!
A few 5th graders will be presenting to the School Committee on January 22nd!
