Meet Mr. Miller

Where have I lived? I was born and raised in Akron, Ohio. I graduated from Copley High School in 2001. Since college, I have lived in Charlotte, North Carolina, where I taught for 6 years, and Pandora, Ohio, where I taught for 3 years. My wife and I bought our house in Shawnee in 2018 and plan to live here for the foreseeable future.

Where did I study? I started my collegiate career at Bowling Green State University. I completed my degree in Telecommunications in 2005. I quickly realized that a career in television was not for me. I then began to pursue my English teaching degree at Notre Dame College of Ohio. I completed that degree in the Spring of 2008. Having obtained a job in North Carolina, I started my Masters degree in 2011 at East Carolina University. Upon moving back to Ohio in 2014, I was accepted into Bowling Green State University's Masters program. I completed my Masters in Curriculum and Education in 2016. 

Where have I taught? Having obtained my teaching degree in 2008, during the housing crisis, it was hard to find a teaching job in Ohio. I was blessed to have found a job teaching at C.C. Griffin Middle School in Concord, North Carolina. At C.C. Griffin, I taught Theatre to grades 6-8. We had grade levels of around 500 students!! Because of this, a new school was built to relieve some pressure. I was then moved to Hickory Ridge Middle School in Harrisburg, North Carolina where I taught 8th grade English for 4 years. Wanting to move back to Ohio, I then obtained a job at Pandora-Gilboa High School where I taught English to grades 9-11. And finally, upon marrying my wife, we moved to Shawnee and I have been teaching here at the High School since 2017. And this is where I plan to stay!!!!

What have I coached? In my 15 years of teaching, I have coached Middle School football for six years, I have coached Middle School soccer for six years and I have coached High School Track for the last eight years. Here at Shawnee, I am the Pole Vault coach for both the middle school and the high school.

What do I enjoy doing? Being from the Akron area, I am a Cleveland sports fan. When sports happen, I normally have them on in the background. I also love listening to music. My wife and I love to go to concerts. Last but not least, when I have time, I am sure to be reading a book. Even when life is its busiest, I still try to read at least 15 minutes before I go to sleep.

Family: I am a middle child with two sisters, Amanda and Melissa. My wife's name is Ashley. We have been married since September of 2017.

On January 19th of 2019, my wife and I welcomed our baby girl, Emersyn. She also goes by Emmy and although she keeps us on our toes, she is our world!!!!

Soon after buying our house in 2018, my wife and I rescued a 2-month-old Huxley from the Auglaize Humane Society. He too keeps us on our toes but we love him very much. He loves to go for walks in Hermon Woods and he loves to chase cats out of our yard.
