Job Summary:
We seek a dedicated and passionate Mathematics Teacher to join our team at Lillie May Carroll Jackson Charter School. As a Mathematics Teacher at our all-girls expeditionary learning project-based school in Baltimore City, you will play a crucial role in planning and implementing an instructional program in Mathematics for students in grades 6 through 12. Your responsibilities will include assessing student abilities, delivering engaging lessons, managing student behavior, evaluating student achievement, and collaborating with fellow educators to provide a supportive learning environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Assess student abilities and align instructional strategies with educational goals, objectives, and outcomes within Lillie May Carroll Jackson Charter School's expeditionary learning project-based approach.
Develop and implement effective instructional strategies and activities in Mathematics, utilizing various materials and technology to enhance student learning and engagement.
Adapt and modify educational materials, resources, and techniques to meet the diverse needs of students within the school's curriculum framework.
Establish and maintain effective discipline and management procedures to promote a positive and respectful classroom environment aligned with the values and principles of Lillie May Carroll Jackson Charter School.
Collaborate with other professionals to coordinate instructional activities and maximize learning opportunities within the expeditionary learning model.
Continually assess student achievement, maintain assessment documentation, and provide timely feedback on student progress to students and parents, incorporating the project-based assessment approach.
Manage learning time effectively to optimize student achievement and support the experiential learning approach.
Create an attractive, safe, and conducive learning environment, ensuring materials are readily accessible and in good condition and aligning the physical space with the principles of expeditionary learning.
Participate in professional development activities, staff meetings, and school-wide events as required or assigned, embracing the unique culture and vision of Lillie May Carroll Jackson Charter School.

Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in secondary education in mathematics or eligible for a conditional certification in mathematics (math major or at least 30 credits in math courses).
Bachelor's degree must be from an accredited college or institution.
Valid standard professional teaching certificate appropriate to the subject taught.
Knowledge of federal laws protecting the educational services for students with disabilities.
Proficiency in content, curriculum, methods, materials, and equipment relevant to the instructional specialty, with an understanding of integrating these within the expeditionary learning framework.
Familiarity with Lillie May Carroll Jackson Charter School's mission, goals, and organization, and a commitment to promoting an all-girls educational environment.
Excellent oral and written communication skills and strong interpersonal skills to effectively engage and inspire students.
Ability to select and implement instructional planning, management, and evaluation procedures that meet student needs and align with the principles of expeditionary learning.
Application of current research and theory to instructional programs, focusing on experiential and project-based learning.
Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with students, peers, and parents, promoting community and belonging.
Physical ability to move around the classroom to check student work and monitor behavior accommodates project-based and experiential learning settings.
