Lillie May Carroll Jackson Charter School is seeking a dedicated and reliable Class Coverage Specialist to ensure the smooth operation of our educational programs. As a Class Coverage Specialist, you will play a critical role in maintaining the continuity of instruction in the event of teacher absences or schedule changes. Your primary responsibility will be to provide temporary coverage for classes across various grade levels and subject areas, ensuring a positive and engaging learning environment for our students. In the case of long-term assignments, you will be required to create lesson plans with support. The Class Coverage Specialist will report to the Principal.
Responsibilities:
Provide temporary coverage for classes in the event of teacher absences or schedule changes.
Follow provided lesson plans and instructional materials to maintain continuity of instruction.
In long-term assignments, collaborate with teachers and instructional staff to create lesson plans that align with curriculum objectives and student needs.
Manage classroom dynamics and student behavior, fostering a safe and respectful learning environment.
Engage students in learning activities, facilitate discussions, and answer questions as needed.
Support students in completing assignments and maintaining focus during class time.
Maintain accurate attendance records and report any incidents or concerns to the appropriate personnel.
Collaborate with other teachers and staff to ensure a seamless transition during class coverage.
Communicate effectively with students, teachers, and administrators to facilitate a smooth classroom experience.
Follow school policies and procedures regarding classroom management, student discipline, and safety protocols.
Adapt teaching strategies and materials to meet the needs of different grade levels and subject areas.
Maintain a professional and positive demeanor when interacting with students, colleagues, and parents.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent (Bachelor's degree in education or related field preferred).
Previous experience working in an educational setting or providing classroom support.
Strong interpersonal skills and building positive relationships with students and staff.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
Ability to manage classroom dynamics and maintain a positive learning environment.
Flexibility and adaptability to work in different grade levels and subject areas.
Ability to follow provided lesson plans and deliver instruction effectively.
Patience, empathy, and understanding when working with students of diverse backgrounds and abilities.
Basic knowledge of classroom management techniques and student behavior management.
Familiarity with educational technology and the ability to utilize it for instructional purposes.
Ability to create lesson plans with support in long-term assignments.
Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism and discretion.
