At Blenheim, we develop children’s language and communication skills by providing them with a range of visual, audio and written materials. Modern Languages are introduced informally in KS1 and EYFS, before beginning lessons in KS2. The curriculum encompasses 4 main domains: phonology, grammatical structures, vocabulary and cultural understanding.
Children become curious, global citizens by being introduced to other cultures, which deepens their understanding of the world around them. Being able to embrace a growth mindset and recognising that mistakes are part of learning and improves their ability to communicate with confidence. This enables them to feel empowered to successfully communicate without barriers. Children make links between existing and new languages, which prepares them for lifelong learning and an ever-changing workforce.
