Impact Overview

We like to regularly look at our impact as a school, related to how well we are living out our school's core mission and vision. Below we touch on a few key impact areas that we can confidently highlight.

The outworking of this mission is seen through the various students involved in community service work.

1) 30 Lighthouse Students take part in Duke of Edinburgh Programme

The DofE Award at Lighthouse School was launched in 2023 with a small group of Bronze participants. We now have over 30 students, supported by a team of 5 Award Leaders, participating at all three award levels. We look forward to our first ever Gold Level Adventurous Journey in 2026 and to welcoming more students aboard in future.

2) 2024 Graduate changed College plans to serve abroad
One of our 2024 graduate students, and student leader, Cecile Dalais, has delayed her studies (and scholarship opportunity) to extend her time as a volunteer in service. What started as a short-term 4 month missions trip, quickly became something more. “While there, I felt convicted that I should continue doing such work,” Cecile shared. 

Instead of starting her studies this month, she is currently in Mexico, participating in a YWAM training school that will prepare her to return to serve in Papua New Guinea or elsewhere in 2026.

Academic impact:  'Create an environment for learning which enables all students to reach their full potential, valuing and developing the whole person'

Through our SEN department, counselling team and our teachers’ partnership with parents, we are committed to assisting students who need educational or emotional support in order to reach their full potential.

Here is a snapshot of what our team achieves each school year:

• Approximately 1000 Occupational Therapy sessions take place in our dedicated therapy area each year
  We currently have one full-time occupational therapist, who works with most of the students who need support. Lighthouse has a fully equipped, spacious therapy room designed to meet a wide range of needs.

• Roughly 400-500 Student Counselling sessions are offered to our students across primary and secondary schools each year (representing 150+ students)
  Lighthouse offers free counselling services in both the primary and secondary school, with a dedicated team of qualified school counsellors. Students can connect with a counsellor in a variety of ways - by reaching out directly via email or in person, through referrals from the Student Care Team, or occasionally by teachers who have concerns.

• More than 2000 formal Parent-Teacher meetings are held across primary and secondary schools each year

Although parents are always welcome to meet with teachers as needed, we also offer three formal opportunities each year, one each term. These parent-teacher meetings typically last between 15 and 20 minutes.
