Dear Lighthouse Primary School Parents,
I hope this message finds you well and filled with anticipation for the upcoming events at Lighthouse Primary School. As we approach the Easter long weekend, I am thrilled to share some exciting updates and important information with you.
Easter Long Weekend
As we prepare to celebrate Easter, we are reminded of the profound significance of the sacrifice made by Jesus Christ and the love He embodies. This time holds great importance for Christians worldwide and within our community. We have engaged in various activities leading up to this weekend to reflect on His love, kindness, and the ultimate sacrifice He made on the Cross.
Please note the following dates when school will be closed:
29th March: Good Friday (No School)
1st April: Easter Monday (No School)
CAR 2 Reports
We have encountered an unexpected hiccup with our CAR 2 reports template. Unfortunately, it may take a bit of time to resolve. Please be aware that CAR 2 reports will not be sent this week. Instead, they will be included in the upcoming TERM REPORT.
We apologise for any inconvenience. Thanks for your understanding.
Inter House Swimming Gala - 3rd April
We are thrilled to announce that Lighthouse Primary will be hosting its first inter-house swimming gala on 3rd April 2024 at Souvenir Swimming Pool in Calebasse from 09:00 - 11:30. This event is open to Grade 4, 5, and 6 pupils.
We are looking for swimmers to participate in the following 25m events:
Freestyle
Breaststroke
Backstroke
Kick-board race
Fun swimming race (e.g., seahorse race on a pool noodle, etc.)
We warmly encourage swimmers of all levels to join in this exciting gala, where they can earn points for their respective houses.
If you haven't yet, please hand in the swimming form, sent to Gr 4-6 parents on 25 March, to your child's class teacher as soon as possible.
Sports News
In addition to this exciting event, we have some wonderful news to share regarding our sports program! We are thrilled to introduce our new Sports News link. Here you will find the latest news, upcoming fixtures and sports achievements of our talented athletes. Be sure to check it out and stay informed about all things sports at Lighthouse Primary!
In our Edu-blog this week
As we gear up for the swimming gala, it's essential to emphasise the importance of water safety and the numerous benefits of swimming for our children. Not only does swimming provide a fantastic form of physical exercise, but it also teaches invaluable water safety skills that are essential for life. Read more about the importance of water safety in this week's Edu-blog.

Traffic rules at drop-off & pick-up
Please make yourself aware again of our traffic requirements at drop-off and pick-up times as this will ensure a better service and experience for all.
Lighthouse parking & traffic policies:
Drop-off before 07:30 is discouraged as supervision is not provided during this time. Please understand that the school cannot assume responsibility for any incidents that may occur before official supervision begins.
We kindly request that parents refrain from arriving before 14:45 for pick-up. Early arrivals hinder us from using our sports fields, as well as impacting smooth traffic flow for school visitors. Early arrivals also pose safety concerns as we cannot monitor campus access effectively. If all guidelines are followed, collection should not take more than 15 minutes.
Children may not be called out of class after 14:00 unless there is a pre-arranged doctor's appointment, communicated in advance with their teacher via email or through reception.
Please note, siblings will not be grouped together for pick-up arrangements. Instead, all children will gather at designated pick-up points. This measure ensures better supervision and enhances overall safety protocols.
Your cooperation in adhering to these guidelines is greatly appreciated as we strive to maintain a secure and organised environment for all students and visitors. Thank you for your understanding and support!
