Reception Outing Feedback

Our Grade R learners recently enjoyed an exciting and unforgettable visit to the local fire station! The adventure began at school, where everyone boarded the school van together. For some of our little ones, it was their very first van ride! The journey was filled with cheerful singing, happy conversations, and lots of excitement as the children admired the beautiful landscapes of Mauritius along the way.

Upon arriving at the fire station, the children were amazed by the impressive fire trucks waiting for them. The firefighters welcomed us warmly and had prepared a wonderful programme especially for our young visitors.

The children were divided into two groups. One group explored the inside of the fire station, learning about where emergency calls are received, how records are kept, and where the firefighters rest and share meals during their shifts. The other group discovered the fire truck up close, learning how it works, where the water is stored, and the important equipment it carries. The firefighters also organised engaging activities for each group, making the experience both educational and fun.

One of the highlights of the day was a special ride in the fire truck! The smiles on the children's faces said it all,they were absolutely thrilled. The learners also enjoyed a live demonstration showing how firefighters extinguish different types of fires, including sugarcane fires, giving them a fascinating insight into the important work firefighters do to keep our communities safe.

After the demonstrations, the children enjoyed their snacks at the fire station before receiving thoughtful gifts from the firefighters, including juice, biscuits, and a commemorative keychain to remember their special visit.

To express their appreciation, each child presented the firefighters with a handmade thank-you card. It was a heartwarming moment that brought smiles to everyone.

The children thoroughly enjoyed exploring the fire station, discovering the specialised equipment, hearing the sirens, and asking plenty of curious questions. This memorable hands-on learning experience not only taught them about fire safety and community helpers but also inspired many of our little learners to dream of becoming firefighters one day!
