Dear Parents and Primary Students,
I am delighted to share the wonderful experience we had last week during our Reception to Grade 2 Sports Day. It was a fantastic event filled with energy, enthusiasm, and sportsmanship from all our young participants.
Firstly, I want to extend my gratitude to all the children who took part. Your excitement and dedication made this day truly special. Seeing your smiles and determination on the field was a joy for everyone.
A special thank you goes to Mr. Yash and Mr. Damien for their incredible effort in organising this event. Their commitment and hard work ensured that everything ran smoothly. I would also like to thank our teachers, staff, and volunteers who played a crucial role in making the day a success.
We are also immensely grateful to the wonderful parents who not only came to support their children but also participated in the activities. Your involvement and encouragement made a significant difference and contributed to the overall spirit of the day. For photos and more highlights from the Sports Day, click here
In other news, we would like to inform you that the Parents Conference (scheduled for 23 July) has been postponed to next year. We will provide more details and new dates as soon as they are finalized.
Please remember not to reply to the SIS Student Information System (admin) and direct responses to your teacher's e-mail. Thank you.
We are so proud of our students who participated in different activities outside of school during the last few weeks, please have a look at what they've achieved, here.
Thank you for staying connected with us. Have a wonderful weekend!

Music Day Feedback
In celebration of International Music Day, we enjoyed a wonderful Music Day assembly this morning. Five talented students, namely Asaëlle Augustin, Udarsh Ramphul, Meha Domah , Tingshu Wu and Asher Chineah performed on their musical instruments, receiving warm applause from their peers and teachers! Additionally, all grades performed songs on stage, which they had learned during music lessons over the past few weeks. Congratulations to each child who participated, and a special thank you to Ms. Olga and the teachers who prepared them for their performances.
The Gr R classes performed the popular Afrikaans song 'Lyfie'
The Gr 5 and 6 classes performed 'Glorious'
The Gr 1 and 2 classes performed 'What a wonderful World'
The Gr 3 and 4 classes performed 'Dream Impossible'
Lost and Found Reminder
We have noticed an increasing number of unmarked clothing, caps, and water bottles in our Lost and Found box. Please ensure that all personal items are clearly marked with your child's name and surname to facilitate their return and remind your children that they are responsible for their belongings and should take care to keep track of what they bring to school. If they are missing any items, they can come to the Hub with their teacher's permission, to see whether the item is there.

Grade 6 Outdoor Education Days Feedback
"Have you got what it takes to survive?" This was the big question the Grade 6 students wrestled with during their adventure day last week. Shelter building, archery, foraging for treasure, finding fruit, solving mystery puzzles and completing a string and nail art project were all part of the survival challenge. It was great to see the groups go from individuals struggling to coordinate their ideas to a very well functioning team.
Throughout the day we discussed the Bible passage of Jesus talking to the Samaritan woman at the well. The students got to think through God's love, sin and forgiveness through this story. You can find it in John chapter 4. Maybe you could read through the story again and discuss it together with your children?
We concluded our day by building rafts and continued to deepen our understanding of Jesus as the living water. Has your child already told you stories about this?

World Champ Maths Competition 2024
We are thrilled to extend an invitation to the Lighthouse Primary School to participate in an upcoming Math Competition!
As advocates for academic excellence, we believe that nurturing mathematical skills is crucial in fostering critical thinking and problem-solving abilities in young minds. This math competition aims to challenge students intellectually while providing a fun and engaging platform to showcase their mathematical prowess. Participants will have the opportunity to solve a variety of intriguing math problems designed to stimulate their analytical thinking and creativity. This competition might either be done in person (if we have enough numbers) or online.
Please note that registration is required to secure your child's spot in the competition and that a fee of Rs 700 is required to register.
Please complete this form to register your child and to have more details about the competition.
International Benchmarking Activities
We are excited to announce that we are in the process of preparing activities that will allow us to benchmark our children on an international level. Our students in Grade 2, Grade 4, and Grade 6 will be participating in these online activities, called MAPS in this coming week.
Please note that there is no pressure on the children, and there is nothing parents need to do from home to prepare them for these activities. We kindly request that parents refrain from creating any expectations, as undue pressure can distract from the data we aim to obtain through this program.
We are aiming to use this data to inform and guide future learning and teaching practices.
