Occupational Therapist - Independent Contractor
Ian is an Occupational Therapist whose focus is on the patients who have fallen through the cracks — the ones who have done everything right and still aren't getting better.
Clinical Focus: While Ian loves all aspects of OT, he dedicates his clinical practice to supporting clients with complex and often misunderstood conditions, including:
Persistent & Chronic Pain conditions (including CRPS, Chronic Widespread Pain, Phantom Limb Pain)
Functional Neurological Disorder (FND) and complex neurological presentations
Neurorehabilitation (brain injuries, stroke, neurological conditions)
Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (EDS) and hypermobility spectrum disorders
Smart Assistive Technology strategies to restore independence
Ian's Approach: Ian works closely with you to address the specific barriers holding you back, so you can return to living and not remain in therapy forever. He leverages his status as an Occupational Therapy Australia (OTA) Endorsed Mental Health Occupational Therapist to support the whole person, mind and body, throughout recovery.
Innovation & Leadership: Ian was the recipient of the 2019 WA Innovators in Practice Award for his work in digital therapeutics and has received Curtin University's Head of School Award for academic excellence. When he isn't solving clinical puzzles, you'll find Ian leading internal innovation teams, building smart software tools to help therapists spend more time with clients.
Master of Occupational Therapy, Curtin University
Bachelor of Science (Computer Science), University of Western Australia
Persistent Pain Care (Complex Regional Pain Syndrome, Chronic Widespread Pain, Phantom Limb Pain), Neurorehabilitation (Functional Neurological Disorder, Stroke, Acquired Brain Injury), Mental Health Recovery, Smart Assistive Technology (Digital Therapeutics, AI in Healthcare)
Ian practises as an independent occupational therapist through Lifeworks OT. He also maintains Otivity, his own clinical identity and approach. If you've been referred to Ian and noticed the Otivity name, this page explains how the two work together — your booking, billing, and care remain entirely with Lifeworks OT.
