Ian Cheok
Senior Principal Occupational Therapist
Senior Principal Occupational Therapist
Ian is a Senior Principal Occupational Therapist with over 20 years of combined experience in the healthcare and technology sectors. He is driven by a passion to help people find answers when they feel stuck in the complexity of their recovery.
Clinical Focus: While Ian loves all aspects of OT, he dedicates his clinical practice to supporting clients with complex and often misunderstood conditions. He has a specific clinical interest in working with:
Persistent & Chronic Pain conditions (including CRPS, Chronic Widespread Pain, Phantom Limb Pain).
Functional Neurological Disorder (FND) and complex neurological presentations.
Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (EDS) and hypermobility spectrum disorders.
Smart Assistive Technology strategies to restore independence.
Ian’s Approach: Ian believes in 'Targeted Strategy'—working intensively with you to solve specific functional barriers so you can get back to living life, rather than staying in therapy forever. He leverages his status as an Occupational Therapy Australia (OTA) Endorsed Mental Health Occupational Therapist to support the whole person—mind and body—throughout their recovery.
Innovation & Leadership: Ian is a recognised leader in modernising healthcare. He was the recipient of the 2019 WA Innovators in Practice Award for his early work in Virtual Reality (VR) therapeutics and has received Curtin University’s Head of School Award for academic excellence. When he isn’t solving clinical puzzles, you’ll find Ian leading internal innovation teams, building smart software tools to help therapists spend more time with clients."
