iZone/iLearnNYC Monday Series Professional Development


iZone/iLearnNYC is offering a series of webinar professional development opportunities to all schools during Monday pd time from 2:30-3:30pm. These one-hour sessions will continue supporting your staff in creating high-quality blended instruction within the LMS and provide teachers the opportunity to bring instructional content to the sessions and use the digital tools found in iLearnNYC in a hands-on setting. Our team of implementation managers continue to support attendees even after the webinar is over so feel free to reach out at any time.

EdPuzzle: An Introductory Overview

In this 60 minute session, participants will explore features of EdPuzzle to assess student understanding by building interactive, engaging video lessons with embedded questions. We will also review how to utilize the EdPuzzle embed code to post this video assessment directly into an iLearnNYC class.

Assessing your Students Using iLearnNYC

In this session, participants will learn how to use the assessment tools in iLearnNYC: assignments, discussions, quizzes, and Google Assignments. Participants will learn how to create each of these as well as how to assess them using both the tool itself and the QuickEval tool.

Designing and Instructing with Accessibility in Mind

Teachers will learn the importance of creating an accessible lesson on iLearnNYC, how to create accessible lessons using various accessibility tools for diverse learners, and future opportunities available to continue increasing accessibility knowledge

Schooling before "Tool"-ing

Participants will learn about the PICRAT framework and use it to assess various tasks using technology tools. Participants will explore two main questions: What is the students’ relationship to the technology? (PIC: Passive, Interactive, Creative) and How is the teacher’s use of technology influencing traditional practice? (RAT: Replace, Amplify, Transform)

Using Communication Tools to Promote Wellness in your Classroom

In this session teachers will learn how to use iLearn for their SEL/Wellness practices. Creating engaging activities using the communication tools, video note, assignments, discussions and awards.

Creating Content Using Templates & HTML Editor

In this hands-on 60-minute workshop, participants will explore how to convert a lesson with all its support materials (I.E.: lesson instructions, vocab, instructional videos, Microsoft powerpoint, PDF, Google slides) into a multi-modal student-user experience in iLearnNYC by utilizing a HTML template of their choice.

Automate Your Course with iLearnNYC Tools

In this session, participants will gain a deep understanding of release conditions and how they can be used to drive instruction and feedback in your classroom. Participants will also learn how to use intelligent agents to streamline communications and personalize feedback for students.

Let's Create a Course Homepage

In this session, participants will learn about the iLearnNYC platform, how to personalize their course homepage with engaging features and widgets, and how to begin to build their highly effective lessons on the platform.

Gamifying iLearnNYC

Gamifying iLearnNYC will focus on taking a deep dive into the awards tool in iLearnNYC. Participants will explore various use cases and create an award to use in their classroom to help motivate and engage students.

Bringing Joy to the Classroom

How do we bring wellness into our classrooms? This session we will talk about student wellness and how to engage them using tech tools and promising practice in today's new normal. We will share how to use the selected SEL tools and practices in a blended classroom.

The following are onboarding PD opportunities. As a part of the onboarding process, your selected webmaster and admin console programmer will have the opportunity to attend the prescribed training below. Your iLearnNYC coordinator is invited and welcomed to attend both sessions.

iLearn Align Training: This session is for those that have been designated as the iLearn Align programmer.

Topic: iLearnNYC: iLearn Align Training

Description: iLearn Align was built specifically to enable iLearnNYC schools to create and manage courses in the Learning Management System(LMS). iLearn Align will replace what was previously known as the iLearnNYC Admin Console. This new system will streamline the process of course creation by automating the creation of courses and enrollment of students and teachers directly from STARS.

Homepage Webmaster Training: This session is for those that have been designated as the Webmaster.

iLearnNYC offers ongoing professional learning opportunities

iLearn Phase I Remote Content Development Training

Learn about the iLearnNYC/Brightspace learning management system and learning environment and how you can use it to create content and pull materials from your Google Drive and/or One Drive. The iLearnNYC/Brightspace Content Development is presented in six webinars where you will tinker in your own sandbox. Teachers can earn CTLE and/or be compensated for participating.

    • Session 2: Create & Build Engaging Content and Curriculum

    • Session 3: Creating and Grading Assignments in iLearnNYC

    • Session 4: Using iLearnNYC to Create Activities to Assess Learning

    • Session 5: Using Analytics and Incentives in LearnNYC

    • Session 6: Personalizing Your Online Classroom

Topic: iLearnNYC: Phase II: Personalize and Differentiate the Learning Experience

Description: Phase II will take a deeper dive to improve instruction using Rubrics, NYS standards alignment, progress reports, prepare for the upcoming school year and more. Teachers registered for Phase II training will participate in three -75 minute sessions that focus on creating learning paths, assessing student work, and time management tools.

Target: All teachers interested in using iLearnNYC

As an iLearnNYC school your students and teachers will land on the school homepage before entering their class pages. The school homepage can be an exciting and informative space to demonstrate school spirit, share information, highlight events and more. From this page they will be able to access all of their courses and you will have the ability to customize this page to include resources that are relevant to your school community. During this training, the iLearnNYC Webmaster will learn how to customize the school’s homepage. This session will be recorded. (CTLE approved)
