The Robert F. Sibert Informational Book Medal, established in 2001 and administered by the American Library Association’s (ALA) Association for Library Service to Children (ALSC), honors the most distinguished informational book published in the United States for children each year. Named after Robert F. Sibert, the founder of Bound to Stay Bound Books, Inc., the award was created to recognize excellence in nonfiction writing for young readers. Its purpose is to highlight books that present factual information in a clear, engaging, and accurate manner, encouraging high standards in children's informational literature. The Sibert Medal is awarded annually, typically during the ALA’s Youth Media Awards, and includes one winner along with a selection of honor books that also exemplify exceptional quality and educational value.
