Services
Where children can feel safe
We are a dedicated residential children’s home provider, our primary focus is on delivering compassionate and specialised therapeutic services designed to nurture the emotional, mental, and social well-being of the children in our care. We recognise that many of the young individuals we serve come from backgrounds of trauma, neglect, or other challenging circumstances, and our approach is centred around creating a safe, supportive, and healing environment. Our multidisciplinary team, consisting of experienced therapists, social workers, and child care professionals, works collaboratively to ensure each child receives a tailored care plan that addresses their unique needs and promotes resilience and personal growth.
A Family Home
Our therapeutic services are grounded in evidence-based practices, including trauma-informed care (PACE), cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT), play therapy, and attachment-based interventions. We believe in the power of building strong, trusting relationships as a foundation for healing and growth. Therefore, we emphasise consistency, empathy, and respect in all interactions with the children. Our team are skilled in creating a supportive space where children can explore their feelings, develop coping strategies, and work through their experiences at their own pace. Additionally, we offer a sense of community and mutual support for the children, allowing them to learn from and recieve support those around them.
Education and Recreation
We recognise the importance of a holistic approach to care. This includes incorporating educational support where appropriate, recreational activities, and life skills. Our educational team works closely with virtual school and tutors to ensure that each child's academic needs are met, while also offering additional support where necessary. Recreational activities, whether art, music, sports, or nature-based, are integrated into our programme to promote joy, creativity, and physical well-being. Life skills training, such as cooking, budgeting, and self-care, is also a vital part of our service, equipping the children with the necessary tools to thrive beyond our care. We believe that by addressing all aspects of a child's life, we can foster not just healing, but a strong foundation for a successful and fulfilling future.
Restorative Conversations
In our residential children's home, we have adopted a behaviour management approach centred around restorative conversations, reflecting our commitment to understanding and addressing the underlying causes of challenging behaviours in a constructive and empathetic manner. This approach is rooted in the belief that every behaviour has a context and is often a form of communication, especially in children who have experienced trauma or adversity. Rather than focusing solely on discipline, our method prioritises understanding, empathy, and helping children develop better coping strategies and decision-making skills. When incidents occur, we engage in restorative conversations, which involve active listening, acknowledging the feelings and perspectives of all involved, and collaboratively finding solutions.
Our restorative conversations are structured to be non-confrontational and supportive, creating a safe space where children feel heard and respected. This process begins by calmly discussing the incident, encouraging the child to express their thoughts and feelings, and exploring the impact of their actions on others. This approach helps the child to develop empathy and an understanding of the consequences of their actions. We then work with the child to identify triggers and underlying issues that may have contributed to the behaviour. By addressing these root causes, we aim not just to resolve the immediate issue but to equip the child with the tools they need to manage their emotions and reactions more effectively in the future.
Finally, an integral part of our restorative approach involves collaboration in creating and agreeing upon constructive steps forward. This might include setting achievable behavioural goals, developing coping strategies, or making amends in a way that is meaningful and promotes healing. We also ensure ongoing support and follow-up, reinforcing positive behaviours and providing consistent guidance. By approaching behaviour management through restorative conversations, we foster a culture of mutual respect, understanding, and personal growth. This approach not only aids in immediate conflict resolution but also contributes to the long-term emotional and social development of the children in our care, preparing them for a more positive future.
