Math

Math is often the most difficult subject for parents to help their students with...

... well have no fear!

I am here to help along the way.

We are doing Math Modules that follow a schedule of lessons. Here in first grade we have 6 Modules. Each Module contains lessons on a given topic. If you are having trouble at home understanding the "new" math concepts, please visit this website: Click Here. This website provides resources at home for understanding the problems we have completed at school, as well as help with any "homework" problems that may be sent home.

When using the resource, simply click on the module number and then lesson number that we are working on.

We are currently working on _Module 2_

The Lesson number can be found at the top or the bottom of each page. Most nights we will complete the corresponding homework to the problem set that was completed during class time and sent home as a reference.

Again, please use this website for at home help.

If all else fails, please send me an email, a message (text) on Remind, or write a note in the communication book and I will do my best to help you and your student as soon as I can.

AT HOME

  • You can support your student by taking advantage of Zearn.org. Please visit Zearn.org on an electronic device suitable for interacting with games and watching videos. Enter the students username, their classroom number, followed by Cunningham, followed by their start year for the grade (ex: 15Cunningham20). Then put in the students password. Your child can then work through the tasks which might include games, questions, videos or a combination.

  • You can also support your students growth by also doing basic flash cards for math facts. 1st grade students NEED to be able to add and subtract up to 20 fluently. The faster they can do this, the easier (and faster) math will be in years to come!

  • In the technology age we live in, some students would prefer to learn through interactive online games! While maybe not my top preference, they still hold great value. Here are some sites you can check out!
