Why is Prekindergarten Important?
Prekindergarten impacts a child throughout his or her entire school experience, resulting in everything from heightened vocabulary scores to improved attendance and high school graduation rates. Highly qualified Panther PreK helps children develop positive social/emotional skills, acquire and use knowledge and skills such as early language, early communication, and early literacy, and helps develops the use of appropriate behaviors to meet their needs.
How old must my child be to enroll in Prekindergarten?
Your child must be 4 years old on or before September 1st of the school year you are applying for.
How do children qualify for Prekindergarten?
The state and federal guidelines for pre-kindergarten qualification are:
Criteria 1: Is not able to, or is limited in ability to speak or comprehend the English Language
Criteria 2: Economically or educationally disadvantaged
Criteria 3: Homeless
Criteria 4: Dependent of an active duty member of the armed forces of the United States
Criteria 5: Child of member of armed forces who was injured or killed while serving active duty
Criteria 6: Child of eligible Star of Texas recipient
Criteria 7: Child is or has ever been in the conservatorship of the Department of Family and Protective services
What other Prekindergarten options are available?

Students may qualify for Early Education through an Individualized Education Plan.
Two-way Dual Language program for native Spanish speakers and English only students
English only seats are dependent on number of Spanish speakers and must complete the Dual Language application process. Students will be instructed in Spanish only for 90% of the school day. Liberty Hill Elementary will offer Dual Language for the upcoming school year. For additional information, click here.

What documents are required for Prekindergarten qualification?
Please review the PreK eligibility form as it indicates the required documents based on the criteria you select
Proof of age and identity of student
If selecting criteria #2, economically disadvantaged, of the PreK eligibility documents, you will need to supply one month's proof of income (most recent), such as
Most recent pay stub(s)
TANF, SNAP, or Medicaid award letter with student identified as recipient
Unemployment benefits
Child support letter
