Mrs. Powell is so excited to return to Liberty Hill Middle School for her fourth year of teaching! Ms. Powell is the head dance teacher at LHMS as well as the All-Stars dance team director.
Originally from Dallas, Tx, Ms. Powell began dancing at age 10 at a local dance studio. Later, she joined her middle school dance team where she was elected an officer position. Ms. Powell continued her drill team journey through high school where she held multiple leadership positions throughout the years. Some of Ms. Powell's favorite memories from high school drill team include winning the ADTS national championship with her team, performing in her school musicals, performing in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade and in the Superbowl XLV halftime show.
Ms. Powell graduated from Stephen F. Austin State University (Axe 'em Jacks!) with a B.S. in dance performance and choreography. While at SFA, she was a member of the Repertory Dance Company where she learned from many amazing choreographers and performed original dance works across Texas. Ms. Powell was also a member of the Dancers Against Cancer organization at SFA, who's mission is to raise money for cancer research organizations and cancer fighters/survivors.
Ms. Powell's favorite style of dance is modern, but she is a drill team girl at heart so she also loves precision dance. In her free time, Ms. Powell enjoys reading, watching YouTube, baking, and tending to her many house plants.
