by 9:00am or send a handwritten note explaining absence and turn in to attendance office within 48 hours of student’s return
he or she MUST go to the nurse’s office and attempt interventions from the school nurse.
if the student leaves campus ‘sick’ without seeing the nurse, the absence will not be excused. Parents may sign out their child per their choice if they desire, it will be coded as such.

COLDS/COUGHING: upper respiratory illness is transmitted by direct contact with secretions/droplets (i.e. coughing and sneezing). Students should stay home until they no longer have frequent coughing or sneezing and goopy, runny nose is dried and clear. (No yellow or green drainage)
DIARRHEA: generally diarrhea is caused by a virus or bacterial infections. Students need to be excluded from school until they haven’t had any diarrhea for 24hrs.
FEVER: temperatures 100 and above should remain home until fever free for at least 24 hrs without use of medication to lower it.
HERPES ZOSTER/SHINGLES: any form of herpes sores/blisters should be covered and cared for at home until crusted over and completely dried up (can take 7-10 days)
PINKEYE: (eyes that are red and have a pus like drainage or crusting) 24 hrs after prescription eye drops have been used and eyes have stopped draining and itching.
RINGWORM: after beginning treatment with a fungicide, may return. Must be kept covered with clothing or bandage.
STAPH/MRSA/IMPETIGO: MD evaluation and 24 hrs after oral and/or topical treatment started. If student is incapable of leaving sore or lesion covered with clothing or bandages in school setting, then must be kept home until fully healed.
STREP THROAT: 24 hrs after antibiotics started with first dose being given at home
VOMITING/EMESIS: 24 hrs from last time vomited if feeling well and no fever.
WARTS: warts can be unsightly and contagious, even though they are often painless. Warts can be spread to other parts of the body by: *scratching or biting a wart, *bite nails or suck fingers, *shave legs or face
