At Liberty High School, every year each grade level paints a sheet to make a banner to show the spirit of their class. Many teachers keep the banners in their room so that students can work on it throughout homecoming week.
Mrs. Stephens kept the sophomore class, the class of 2023, banner in her room during the week for her students to work on. Mrs.Stephens said that there was a good amount of students help on the banner. When asked if students should be allowed to get out of their class to work on the banner she said, ¨If students are done with their assignments. So many of them are involved in sports and can’t help after school. Some of those students want very much to be a part of this and some of them are the most talented.¨ She had several students involved in both the hallway and banners. ¨It was just a lot of work for sponsors to be around to complete both of them in one-week ¨ LHS used to do floats that took longer and even more time. Mrs.Stephens said, ¨Anything lets the students have the chance to be creative and work together as a team is good!¨
Many students worked on the senior banner, one being Brylee Warren. ¨We procrastinate a lot, but we worked very hard Thursday. We stayed till almost 1 am to finish it. Friday we did final touches, working until 10 minutes before it’s due,¨she replied when asked how long she worked on their banner. The seniors worked hard on their banner, some staying late multiple nights. The seniors got third place. The seniors have gotten fourth place on their banner every homecoming since freshman year. So, to say that they were pleased with the outcome would be an understatement.
Tru Daniels is a junior at Liberty High School. She helped with their banner. ¨I just wanted to try and help out the class,¨ she said. She said that she wouldn't change a thing. ¨I liked it alot, we all worked really hard to get it done and make it look as nice and neat as possible. I think we fulfilled our thoughts of what it'd look like,¨ she added. The Juniors got first place on their banner. It met all of the qualifications and looked nice. All the Juniors really liked the way that it looked. Overall, the Juniors were very pleased with their first place banner.
Lots of sophomores were involved with the banner, Keegun Daniels being one of them. He worked on the banner all week long. He had wished the football field and that the banner in general was a little bit neater. The sophomores got second place on their banner, which is better than any of the other grades got during their sophomore year. When asked how he would get more people to participate next year, he answered with ¨A lot of people came and helped with the banner. The artistic people helped with the banner and the less artistic helped with the hallway.¨
The freshmen that worked on their banner put in their best effort. Reagan worked on the banner all week with the other participant Sydney Radford. The freshman class got fourth place. Next year she plans on making a groupchat with the people she believes would help make the banner better next year.
The teachers and the sponsors for the homecoming banners were very pleased with the amount of students that helped with the banners this year.
