In light of Liberty’s homecoming football game celebration, the high school hosted a pep assembly where homecoming candidates and their escorts competed in a series of games, as well as fall sports being recognized. The candidates fighting to win during the games were Jocelyn Clark, Shayla Denton, Chloe Young, and Brooklyn Billeck for the queen title, along with Kelstin Roy, Shelby Acklin, Kenzie Daniels, and Sydney Radford for princess.
Carter Pruett’s response to finishing fourth out of four during the pep assembly was that he “didn’t feel too good about it.” If Carter could change anything, he thinks his grade should’ve been “louder and had more participants.”
The sophomore class placed second in the assembly. “I think my class did good at everything, we just didn’t do the best." For next year's homecoming assembly, Abbi says her class can be “more prepared for the games and be louder when we’re supposed to scream.”
Finishing in third was the junior class. Junior Lexi Shumpert feels like her class could have “been louder as a whole.” She states that “everyone needs to be all in to beat the seniors.” Next assembly, the seniors' last chance to win, Lexi expects “everyone to be yelling and for us to beat the seniors at their last assembly.”
Senior, Ricky Reed shared that the senior class are reigning champs of the homecoming pep assembly after taking the Class of 2020’s last shot at winning last year. In reflection of this year’s pep assembly, Ricky says “it was nice” and “kind of short lived.”
This year’s homecoming pep assembly was impressive for all classes, but the seniors ended up taking home the win. “I couldn’t have expected more from my class for my last homecoming assembly I'll ever have,” says senior Ricky Reed.
