Mountain View-Birch Tree’s Liberty High School’s Health Occupations class just recently took their CNA test. All students in the Health Occupations class passed. A CNA helps patients with activities of daily living and other healthcare needs under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN).
Chloe Roberts, Senior, passed her CNA test and she wants to be a CNA because, “I've always wanted to be a nurse and my aunt always wanted me to start with CNA because that's the first field of nursing.”
Kiah Chowning, Senior, wants to be a CNA as well so she can “work in a hospital while I go to college so I already have my foot in the door.”
Every person has different but all good reasons to want to be a CNA. During the CNA career or even before that a lot of people have to do some difficult things. Chloe pointed out a difficult thing she had done and that was, “My CNA test. I was freaking out and broke out in hives crying because Mrs. Wright wasn’t in the room.”
Kiah’s biggest worry was, “The stress and worrying about my CNA test. I was worried about passing it. Once I got my tests back and looked at it, I had nothing to even worry about.”
A lot of people have some strengths and those strengths they have will help with their career. Chloe “enjoy’s taking care of people and that strength will help when i’m working at the nursing home and taking care of residents daily.¨ “I've always wanted to be a nurse since I was little,” says Chloe. She is really looking forward to being a CNA and helping the elders out once she is able to.
Kiah’s response to that was, “I feel like I'm really good with working with other people and you have to have that to be a CNA.” A lot of people who become a CNA love their job. “I don’t envision myself staying as a CNA very long but once I graduate I plan on moving up and furthering my career,” Kiah concluded.
