Every year, the Liberty High School FFA organizes activities for National FFA Week. FFA is known as Future Farmers of America. FFA is a youth organization that prepares members for leadership and careers in the Science, Business and Technology Fields of Agriculture all around the United States. Mr. Cornman, Liberty High School´s FFA sponsor, says, “FFA week has been going on for decades. It is a national event for FFA.”
“I started helping with the MV-BT Chapter with FFA week about 12 years ago, 2010 I believe,” Cornman said. “My favorite thing about FFA week is the FFA Church and the Community/Farmer Luncheon. I enjoyed watching people enjoy themselves and have a fun time,” Cornman commented. FFA week is such a fun time to bring people together from outside the community and just sit down to eat, talk and enjoy themselves and have fun!”
Brooklyn Billeck is one of the Liberty High School FFA Officers. Brooklyn responded, “I think our FFA Week went really well. Due to COVID-19, we had to find new ways to do old things, but that did not stop us from holding our annual community luncheon. We had many activities any FFA member could come join in on like dodgeball and ag olympics.”
Brooklyn and other FFA members had many ideas for new FFA activities during FFA week. “A new school year can lead to new opportunities. I believe it would be cool if FFA were to make projects such as round hay bale feeders, picnic tables, and flower containers. The projects we make we would sell to the community. We are wanting to fix the fence at the FFA farm. This would allow us to get a variety of animals that FFA members can show in summer fairs.”
