Every year on November 11, the United States citizens honor military veterans, who served in the United States Armed Forces. Many men and women sacrificed their lives to protect this country.
Year after year, the Liberty High School student body holds a Veteran’s Day assembly for the local heroes. During this assembly, students are able to honor family members and friends, who protected the United States. At the assembly, everyone gives moments of silence to the fallen or lost soldiers, and listens to speeches given by members of our local VFW.
Jesse Baldwin is proud to be a part of a school that represents the veterans in such a way. He says, “I feel like it was a great honor that our school attended the Veteran’s Day assembly because it shows our community that we are invested in our veterans.”
This year Liberty’s Senior Class President and Vice President accepted a gift of a P.O.W. Flag to be hung outside the school. Liberty High’s students were very grateful to be given this gift. After the assembly the veterans were served lunch by a few National Honor Society members.
Students are grateful for the time spent honoring those who put their country first.
