The images above are a combination of students working in the computer lab and in the print lab.
Our students at LCCA, who take the Graphic Design pathway, are taught about both the graphic design and printing industries. These two industries work hand in hand together so it is important for them to fully understand both.
Students are taught how to use industry standard software such as Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop and Adobe InDesign. In addition to these, we also use Canva for some of our beginning projects in intro. Throughout the course of the pathway, students will gather work that they have created to compile them into a portfolio that they can take with them. They will also create some of their own takeaways such as business cards, posters, t-shirts, buttons, tumblers, etc.
Our students have a chance to participate in creating and completing live work from customers both in & out of the school district. This also gives them the opportunity to learn how to quote a design and print job, and how to create a job quote for customers. These real world experiences help give our students a glimpse into what working in the design and print industry may be like from day to day.
