Gymnasium

Lemont High School's newly renovated Gymnasium opened in Fall 2020. It features ADA accessible bleachers, air conditioning, a spotless design with new paint and wall padding, new equipment for basketball and volleyball, new scoreboards, a refinished floor, an area with indoor turf and a double-wide batting cage, and remodeled bathrooms near the gym.

Field house

The Field House is used extensively during physical education classes, and also is utilized by many of our athletic programs for practices and competitions. It includes three main courts, an indoor sandpit, two batting cages and five volleyball courts. An indoor climbing wall is used by all physical education classes; very few high schools feature a climbing wall.

Activities played in this area include basketball, volleyball, badminton, floor hockey, pickleball, softball, indoor soccer, ultimate frisbee, and spikeball.

Weight room

The weight room is open before school from 6:30-7:30 a.m., and after school from 3-5 p.m. Lemont High School also has elective Athletic Performance classes available for all athletes and students who wish to be in a more advanced training environment.

Gallery 306

Gallery 306 is a space for our visual art students to exhibit their work. Exhibit receptions are held before our school theater performances in the Fall, Winter, and Spring. This is a professional space to show off our talented art students, critique, a place for cross-curricular. Work is submitted by students and selected by the art teachers. The artwork is judged by professional artists and awards are given to students in various categories. We also host an exhibit with Old Quarry Middle School annually in the Spring.

citgo Innovation academy

The CITGO Innovation Academy is a place where students and staff can explore, design, and create in ways that stretch their imagination while connecting to real-world applications. The LHS Makerspace currently maintains 15 3D printers: 6 Prusas, 1 Flashforge, 6 Ultimakers, 1 Makerbot and 8 3D pens. Carvey is an enclosed CNC carving machine that allows you to make quality objects out of plastic boards. Classes also often use the Spheros, which are programmable robots with STEAM-based educational tools that transform the way students learn, create, and invent through coding, science, music, and the arts. Other STEM equipment available includes: Drone, Jam Board, Green Screen Rooms, Google Expeditions, laser graver, and a vinyl printer.

Robotics/CAD Labs

Welcome to our CAD - Computer Aided Drafting - and Robotics labs at Lemont High School. Courses taught in these labs include: Drafting/CAD I, Advanced CAD II and III, 3D Design and Animation, Robotic Engineering, and Orientation to Industrial Technology.

Students have access to professional design software and equipment in these labs, including 3D printers and a laser engraver. All of our Industrial Technology courses are primarily project-based and students are able to make use of all of our resources in the design and development of their class projects.

The only course open to incoming freshmen is Orientation to Industrial Technology, which allows students to explore several areas of study including drafting and design, robotics and woodworking. Students also complete several engineering projects, including bridge design, construction and testing, and CO2-powered car design, fabrication and testing.

woodshop

Lemont High School is very fortunate to have a 5,000-square foot-woodshop. The Woods Technology Learning Center is a separate building located east of the main building near the loading dock.

Courses offered in woodworking include: Woods 1, Woods 2, and Production Honors. Students enrolled in Woods courses learn everything from basic hand and power tool operation and safety to advanced woodworking techniques and cabinet making.

Freshmen interested in woodworking should take Orientation to Industrial Technology, as this is the only Industrial Technology course available for them. Students receive an introduction to woodworking and spend time in our woodshop learning basic safety and woodworking skills.

In addition, FACS Survey students complete several cooking labs with a group of students in the class.

cave

Lemont High School is proud of the academic support available to students, and this is one of the locations! The Center for Academic Vision and Excellence is known as the CAVE.

Anytime it is open, there is at least one teacher and multiple tutors ready to help! As you can see - the atmosphere allows for students to find a space to best meet their needs. Some students need a table where a tutor can be next to them with explanations. Other students prefer a quiet location to work independently.

The important information for you right now is that Lemont High School has support for learning. The CAVE is open before and after school for all students, and students also can drop in during lunch to get help during the school day. In addition, the CAVE is an actual class for students wanting continual support during the school day.

We just want you to know there is help in learning, and we are ready!

dhh program area

Another great program Lemont High School hosts is the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) program. Lemont has a partnership with the Southwest Special Education Co-op that allows students who have a hearing loss within all southwest school districts to be fully involved in what Lemont High School has to offer.

These three rooms (N218, N219 & N220) are where the self-contained DHH students are taught by licensed teachers of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing. Other staff in the DHH department include interpreters, paraprofessionals, a DHH-specific social worker, and a speech language pathologist.

DHH students also participate in mainstream classes, activities, clubs, sports, and everything in between! It’s Deaf-initely a great addition to Lemont High School!

main office

This is the main office, which includes most members of the Student Services Department. In these offices, students will find their guidance counselor, the attendance office, the nurse, the deans, the school psychologist, the social workers, the speech and language pathologist, the Student Services Chair, the Director of Special Education Services, the Director of Curriculum, Assessment & Instruction, and the principal. The Security Office is also located here.

Students are able to come here and schedule an appointment with their counselor to talk about how they are doing, their classes or college and career information, see a special service provider, or stop in at the Security Office to pick something a parent dropped off. Our principal, Mr. Michaelsen, loves to see students, so make sure to pop in and say “hi” if you are in the office!
