Nebraska Rural Electric Youth Energy Leadership Camp - July 21-25, 2025 for grades 9-11 at Camp Comeca in Cozad, NE. Application is due April 16th. See Mrs. Woodall for an application.

Junior Law Cadet Program - Every year, high school juniors from each of The American Legion's 14 Districts in Nebraska are chosen to participate in the Junior Law Cadet Program. The purpose of the program is to allow male and female students the opportunity to explore and experience the various aspects of law enforcement training. Students participate in daily calisthenics and receive training in firearms, self-defense, fingerprinting, K-9 handling, accident and criminal investigation, lie detector testing, and state patrol car driving. Students stay at the Nebraska State Patrol Training Academy in Grand Island. The American Legion Department of Nebraska Junior Law Cadet Program is held annually during the summer before the senior year of high school, typically during the middle of June, at the Nebraska State Patrol Training Academy in Grand Island. Completed applications and an endorsement from your school principal or superintendent must be submitted to your local American Legion Post Commander before March 1st. If you are interested in attending, the best local points-of-contact are your local Legion Post; and your high school principal or guidance counselor. The 2025 Boys Session will be held June 23-24, 2025 at the Nebraska State Patrol Facility in Grand Island. The 2025 Girls Session will be held June 25-26, 2025 at the Nebraska State Patrol Facility in Grand Island. See Mrs. Woodall for an application. 

9th Grade CLeW - Nebraska HOBY Youth Leadership is excited to announce an exciting leadership opportunity for 9th grade students from the Norfolk Metro Area. We will be hosting a one-day leadership experience on Saturday, March 22, 2025 from 9:15 am - 2:30 pm at the Norfolk Public Library. During this free event, 9th graders will participate in several sessions including great speakers, leadership activities, service learning projects, and reflections. It will be a fun, informative day with students from throughout the area. To learn more about the program, you can download the school information letter here. Registration is now open for up to three students from each school. Registration will close when we hit capacity of 40 students or by March 14. If you are interested in attending, please let me know ASAP so I can register you! 

F.A.R.M. C.A.M.P. - The Frontier Area Rural Mental Health Camp and Mentorship Program (FARM CAMP) runs for one week in the summer at Chadron State College, where students stay on campus. During the week, students are able to meet professionals from a variety of rural behavioral health professions and learn firsthand about these careers. They also take a class introducing them to aspects of psychology, mental health treatment, and ethics, for which they receive college credit. And, of course, there are fun activities for them to participate in during the off-hours. After the camp is concluded, students keep in touch with a mentor throughout the year, who answers any questions they might have and helps them along their education and career pathway. This project is intended to help with the drastic shortage of behavioral health providers in our rural communities. Currently, 88 of 93 counties in Nebraska are identified as workforce shortage areas in these fields. NMC Cat Sponsorship Program - NMC Cat partners with colleges across the Midwest to support students who choose a career in diesel technology. Regardless of where you are in your pursuit of a diesel degree, NMC Cat has a program designed to help you succeed. The program provides: a paid summer internship, paid tuition, books, fees, and a NMC Cat uniform, toolbox and tool set, personalized mentoring and guidance over the course of the program, opportunity to earn an Associates of Applied Science Degree in Diesel Technology, and employment and career progression opportunities with NMC Cat. Cornhusker Boys State - Cornhusker Boys’ State is a premier leadership development program that offers current junior boys across Nebraska the chance to learn about government, citizenship, and civic engagement during “a week that shapes a lifetime.” This year’s program will take place June 1 - 7, 2025, on campus at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Students will leave Cornhusker Boys’ State with a greater understanding of the political process, strengthened leadership abilities, and lasting connections with peers from across the state. We are seeking motivated and engaged juniors to apply to attend this year's program. I encourage you to share this opportunity with your students and help identify those who would benefit from this experience. The application deadline is March 15, 2025, and we’d love to see a strong group of your students join us for the 2025 session. American Legion Auxiliary Girls State - The American Legion Auxiliary Department of Nebraska is pleased to announce the 84th session of American Legion Auxiliary Cornhusker Girls State will be held June 1-7, 2025. The ACT testing date of June 7, 2025, DOES conflict with our session dates. We do not dismiss for the ACT testing. Attorney General Youth Conference - Attorney General Mike Hilgers is inviting high school juniors and seniors to participate in the Nebraska Attorney General’s Youth Conference at the Nebraska State Capitol on Tuesday, April 8, 2025, from 9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The conference will provide Nebraska youth with an experience of state government and law. This year, a limited number of high school juniors and seniors from across the state will be selected to attend. Conference attendees will discuss and debate current issues, hear from AGO Bureau Chiefs, expand their understanding of the legal process in Nebraska, and eat lunch at the Governor’s Residence. The NE Emerging Writers & Artists Contest - This year's theme is Nebraska Values. All Nebraska high school students are welcome to submit essays, poems, short stories, or art (photography, painting, drawing, or 3-D) responding to this prompt. Submissions are due March 7th. See the attached flyer for the submission link (which is live on the flyer) and please share widely with your students and colleagues. FLYER 

Mount Marty Theatre Visit Day - Mount Marty is hosting a Theatre Open House on Saturday, November 9th from 4:00-7:00 at Mount Marty University. This will be an immersive theatre experience where students will participate in a meet & greet with current Mount Marty students and faculty, get a sneak-peek behind Marian Auditorium's stage, tour campus (including dinner!) and, of course, enjoy their performance of The Spitfire Grill: The Musical at 7:30pm following the visit. NECC Criminal Justice Day - Wednesday, September 25, 202 8:30 am - 3:30 pm in the Lifelong Learning Center - If you are a high school student and have an interest in the field of Criminal Justice (Corrections or Law Enforcement) this is the best time to visit Northeast Community College! This year's event will feature rotating presentations from federal law enforcement agencies including: ATF (Alcohol, Tobacco, & Firearms), ICE (Immigration & Customs Enforcement), U.S. Marshall Service, U.S. Secret Service, Federal Prisons, Federal Probation Lunch is provided. Food Animal Career Camp - NECC Norfolk Campus - Pohlman Agriculture Complex on November 20, 2024 at 8:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. Northeast Community College Vet Tech program is hosting a camp for high school juniors and seniors to learn about careers in food animal production.
