LGfL plans to launch the School Bank/Shop platform in September 2024 following a successful pilot in the Summer Term 2024. We must be confident the platform works as it should and can be implemented in any school. The pilot will test this aspect.
The platform is also supported by curriculum-linked material.
When the platform is launched in September, there will be several case studies from pilot schools explaining how they used the technology to develop understanding with their pupils.
Further key information about the Bank / Shop platform
The actual School Bank/Shop platform is free to use.
To benefit fully from the technology platform, schools must invest in a contactless card reader (Approx £25 to buy) and blank contactless cards ( approx £50, depending on how many cards are required). These are the predicted costs of using the platform.
The platform is not designed to replace existing commercially available contactless card-based school shop systems such as those used in school canteens. It is designed to help develop a financial understanding with pupils.
