Michael Morpurgo
Michael Morpurgo, began writing stories in the early '70's, in response to the children in his class at the primary school where he taught in Kent. One of the UK's best-loved authors and storytellers, Michael was appointed Children's Laureate in 2003. He has written over 120 books, including The Butterfly Lion, Kensuke's Kingdom, Why the Whales Came, The Mozart Question, Shadow, and War Horse, which was adapted for a hugely successful stage production by the National Theatre
Below you will find various activities for your students to explore the themes touched upon in Michael Morpurgo 'The Dancing Bear' . We have also given suggested activities you could do with your students to future explore the themes. To support you we have created lesson slides and have given you an extracts from the book.
We have a a series of comprehension self-marking quizzes, the quizzes are designed to allow KS2 pupils to practise and apply their skills of the Content Domains. They have been written in a progressive order, and using different question types, to support KS2 pupils of different abilities.
