All About Mrs. McCoy

This is my husband Don McCoy and I with our newest family member, grand baby Quinn. We have been married 24 years. We have three children.  Our family has grown so much over the years.  Below is the most recent picture of me with my girls.

This is my second-born daughter, Kendra Ly-Hughes.  She is 25 years old. She is married to Sergent Malikhi Ly-Hughes. He serves our country in Okinawa, Japan in satellite communication.   Kendra lives with her husband in Japan. She joined him in April of 2023.  Please pray for them. Kendra use to be at LFCA in God Rock Cafe where she was Kitchen Manager the year of 2017-2018.   Kendra is an alumnus of LFCA.  I plan to visit her in April in Japan.  I am excited about this trip!

Veronica,  also known as "Mickie" to most at LFCA is 22 years old.  She is also an alumni of LFCA where she discovered her passion for reading. She is a Manager at Fresh Take in Taylorsville Kentucky where they have the best chicken salad on Croissant that I have ever eaten!  She lives in Taylorsville, Kentucky, and enjoys  crocheting and reading! I tease her that she is my little old lady.  :)

This is my family teasing me.  Malikhi is in Japan and is not in the picture.

These are our family's pets.

Maggie is our dog. She is 10 years old and weighs 108 pounds Alaskan Husky and Shepherd mix. She is super lovable but she does suffer from Cushing's disease and it causes her to gain weight along with many other things. Even though she has this disease it does not keep her down in personality. She thinks she is a lap dog and is so lovable to all she meets.  She likes to welcome you with hugs right between your legs when you come to see her, and as all dogs do she wants you to pet her all the time.  She does not like the heat and will stay in the house all day as long as it is hot outside. Maggie is very serious about going to bed! Not only is she serious about going to bed but she wants to go to bed with me! As soon as I get home in the evening she is trying to get me in the bed so we can snuggle.  Maggie also loves snow!! She will play for hours in the snow and go out in an ice storm just for fun.  We were kindred spirits from the moment I met her because I LOVE snow too and the snow days that come with it.

Mac is our newest addition to the family.  Mr. McCoy went to pick up Mac two years ago while I did Kindergarten graduation! Mac is a 1 year old Labradoodle weighing in 77 pounds.  She loves Maggie with everything she has! Maggie does not feel the same way because she is old and grouchy. LOL! Mac is a snuggle bug. She is not happy unless she is laying on me or beside me. She must touch me at all times. She loves water! We keep a kiddie pool in the backyard for her as her water bowl because she likes to tip over normal water bowls. She drinks and plays in the kiddie pool. Also, Mac loves to play fetch! He is great and retrieving. I have high hopes of getting Mac trained so he can be a therapy dog. I would love for Mac to be in the classroom with my Kindergarteners after proper training.

The next little fellow in Mickie's hair is our bird, Nico. He is a Cockatiel. Nico was Mickie's pet when she was living at home. We have adopted him as our own now that Mr. McCoy and I are empty nesters. He really has taken to Mr. McCoy. They fuss at each other daily. :)  He is very talkative. He says, "I love you," "whatcha doing?", and "I'm Nico." He whistles when he thinks you are lookin' good. He loves to play peek -a- boo with a blanket, and asks to play the game often.  He likes to watch the old shows that are on TV. His favorite show is Andy Griffith because he can whistle to tune at the beginning of the show. He has recently learned to pull his food into his cage if Don takes too long to feed him and give the food back. Nico even gives you kisses, if he likes you! He is all around a super cool bird.
