Class Expectations:
Students are expected to be prepared for physical activity and on task as active participants during every class including on remote days.
Requirements for preparation include: wearing PE appropriate clothing and sneakers. NO JEANS, CROCKS, Boots or Open Toed Shoes for PE class. If your child is NOT wearing sneakers to school, have them pack a pair in their backpack to change into for PE class.
When students are not prepared or inactive points are deducted from their grade.
For safety, we ask that NO jewelry be worn. If a student has recently had their ears pierced, the family must supply band aids to cover the ears until they are healed and earrings can be removed. We are not responsible for any jewelry that may be broken or injury that may occur due to wearing it.
If a student is experiencing difficulty in the physical education setting the family will be notified by a note home or by phone. All efforts will be made to insure a safe and enjoyable learning environment.
Grading
Preparation, Sportsmanship and On Task active participants.
Students will lose points if not actively participating, inappropriate behavior and for not wearing PE appropriate clothing or sneakers.
Sneakers should have laces.. If they are slip on, make sure they are secure to your child’s foot. NO CROCS, boots or sandals allowed. If students are not wearing PE appropriate clothing/sneakers, they will have to sit out of the activity for the period.
Tips for Parents
Know your child’s schedule.
Make sure that they are dressed and ready for PE class. For those that are in person, make sure they have sneakers that have ties/velcro. Slip on sneakers are fine as long as they are athletic (Ex. Nike, Addidas, Under Armor, etc) and do not fall/slip off the feet.
Help your child learn how to tie their shoes.
Check classwork/homework due dates located in the Google classroom.
Work on organizational and time management skills (create a schedule).
Review schoolwork with your child.

PHYSICAL EDUCATION EXPECTATIONS
Treat others the way you want to be treated
Parental Support:
Parents should know their child’s Physical Education schedule and provide them with proper attire for activity on those days. Additionally, parents should be supportive in maintaining physical fitness by developing an active lifestyle at home.
** New Jersey’s new state law HIB (Harassment, Intimidation and Bullying) requires students, teachers and parents to be ever vigilant in the struggle for respect of all persons. Treating each other with fairness and equality has always been at the forefront of education and will continue to be throughout the Little Ferry Public Schools. Please notify us of any behavior that you may consider inappropriate should you hear something outside of school.
