Participation in the Advocacy and Marketing committee creates career-ready students able to:
Identify characteristics of effective marketing.
Promote SkillsUSA.
Advocate for themselves and their ideas.
Activities conducted on this committee may include:
Creating and disseminating SkillsUSA and Chapter promotions and materials.
Delivering presentations.
Conducting recruitment activities.
Creating social media posts.
Maintaining a chapter Google Site.
Creating a chapter Newsletter.
Designing logos and materials for the Chapter.
Working with and assisting other committees and the leadership team with various needs.
This committee assesses community needs, identifies services and employs skills to meet needs that develop long-lasting partnerships
Participating in the Community Engagement Committee creates a career-ready student able to:
Assess and analyze needs.
Create a heart of service.
Apply technical skills for the benefit of others.
Activities conducted on this committee may include:
Choosing or designing community engagement/service projects.
Planning, organizing, and executing various community engagement/service projects.
Managing community engagement/service initiatives (i.e. School Recycling)
Maintaining records of service hours for members.
Working with and assisting other committees and the leadership team with various needs.
This committee helps students develop personal financial literacy and entrepreneurship skills through relevant work experience, project management and chapter fundraising.
Participation in the Financial Management Committee creates a career-ready student able to:
Work efficiently and effectively within a budget.
Manage personal finances effectively.
Manage resources efficiently.
Activities conducted on this committee may include:
Creating an annual budget.
Maintaining financial records for the chapter.
Approving budgets and expenditures for the chapter.
Managing fundraising initiatives.
Locating and maintaining Sponsorship Opportunities and Initiatives.
Actively seek out and provide assistance to members regarding available scholarship opportunities.
Working with and assisting other committees and the leadership team with various needs.
This committee establishes interpersonal relationships along with individual and team development through chapter operations, leadership competitions and individualized growth plans.
Participating in the Leadership Development Committee creates a career-ready student able to:
Communicate vision.
Inspire others to reach a common goal.
Equip and empower team members.
Activities conducted on this committee may include:
Conducting a leadership workshop for members.
Managing the Local Leadership Competitions.
Providing Leadership Experiences and/or Training for members and officers.
Manage and oversee any State Officer Endorsement Process.
Assist with any State Officer Candidate preparation.
Manage and oversee the Chapter Officer Election Process.
Assist with any National Officer Application Process and Preparation.
Working with and assisting other committees and the leadership team with various needs.
This committee encourages students to engage former members, parents, advisory committees, administrators, faculty and partners in SkillsUSA chapter and classroom activities.
Participation in the Alumni and Partner Engagement Committee creates a career-ready student able to:
Appreciate the contributions of others.
Build a personal and professional network.
Recognize and value the expertise of others.
Activities conducted on this committee may include:
Engaging partners to serve as mentors.
Recognizing contributions of partners and alumni.
Providing business acumen and expertise to the chapter’s program of work.
Managing chapter alumni membership.
Use a network of parents, business and industry partners in various ways to benefit the chapter’s members.
Maintain a record of all chapter partners' contact information and contributions.
Actively seek out new partners.
Working with and assisting other committees and the leadership team with various needs.
This committee encourages participation in career exploration, planning and work-based learning opportunities, including the SkillsUSA Championships.
Participating in the Workplace Experiences Committee creates a career-ready student able to:
Gain relevant work experience.
Develop job-seeking skills.
Understand workplace expectations.
Activities conducted on this committee may include:
Managing local Technical Competitions.
Creating projects that utilize chapter partnerships to provide members with workplace experiences (i.e. mock interviews, guest speakers, etc.).
Actively seek out certification opportunities for chapter members.
Maintain records of certifications for chapter members.
