In Topic 7: Area, Surface Area, and Volume Problems, students will:
-accurately measure angles using a protractor.
-identify complementary and supplementary angles.
-find actual measurements/dimensions of geometric figures using a ruler.
-compose and decompose shapes.
-explain how to use properties and formulas to find areas of polygons.
-deconstruct a composite figure into triangles and rectangles.
-recompose the composite figure to solve for the area.
-find actual measurements of some nets using rulers.
-use patterns to create a formula for surface area.
-calculate the surface area of prisms and pyramids.
-apply surface areas of prisms and pyramids to solve real-life problems.
-use V=Bh or V=lwh to calculate the volume of a right rectangular prism.
-apply the formula for volume of rectangular prisms in real world situations.
