School District Five and Irmo Chapin Recreation Commission (ICRC) have joined together to promote sports development in the community through a new youth sports league, the Bridge Development League.

Basketball will be the pilot sport of the program being offered Winter 2025.

The Bridge Development League basketball pilot is designed for children in the following groups to develop skills and prepare athletes for higher level competition, game rules, and the expectations and demands of each sport the league offers.

Athletes will be able to play for their zoned school team and mascot (Irmo, Chapin, or Dutch Fork) wearing district school colored and logoed jerseys.

The League aims to provide a place for all to play for their school with pride, improve skills and sportsmanship, while having fun.

League games and practices will take place at ICRC and School District Five facilities.

The season costs $90 and scholarships are available to ensure everyone plays.

Registration for the inaugural basketball season is now open.
