Students will restore with amended worm casting composts and plant our raised garden beds with a strawberries. These perennial plants in this strawberry patch will allow our students to observe their growth and spread over time. The simple act of cultivating a strawberry plant from a starter plant to a mature fruit-bearing plant imbues students with a proud sense of accomplishment. Tasting fruit fresh from the garden, which students have grown themselves, can encourage a lifetime preference for eating healthy food and a love of gardening.
How Students will Teach Others: Our kindergarten team plans to include garden projects into their writing, math, science and social studies during learning celebrations.
We will be planting a Spring Garden at our April 22nd Earth Day Celebration. This garden will be used by our STEAMING in the Kitchen students will be using their garden ingredients in their recipes.
