Welcome! I’m Mrs. DeNeutte, and I’m so excited to be your science teacher this year! I believe science is all around us, and my goal is to help students become curious, confident, and engaged learners. Our classroom will be a place where students can ask questions, explore new ideas, make connections, and learn from both their successes and their mistakes.
This is my 18th year of teaching! I spent 11 years teaching in Connecticut, where I grew up, before my family moved to South Carolina. I was fortunate to join the LexRich 5 School District 7 years ago teaching 6th grade Science, and I have loved being part of this school community ever since!
This is my first year at Dutch Fork Middle School teaching 6th grade Science, and I am very excited for this new opportunity! I look forward to getting to know my students, becoming part of the Dutch Fork community, and sharing my love of learning and science throughout the school year.
I earned my Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education from Western Connecticut State University and a Master’s Degree in Elementary Education from Southern Connecticut State University. I am also Gifted and Talented certified in South Carolina.
One of my favorite things about teaching science is seeing students have those “aha!” moments when something they've been learning suddenly makes sense. I especially enjoy creating opportunities for students to learn through hands-on activities, labs, investigations, and simulations.
In our classroom, students can expect to learn science by doing science! We will use labs, simulations, interactive notebooks, discussions, and collaborative activities to explore our topics. My goal is for students to feel comfortable being curious, asking questions, and learning from their mistakes.
