Substitute/E-Learning Assignments
Thursday, February 5, 2026 (A classes) - Friday, February 6, 2026 (B classes)
Students, you need your chromebook, headphones, a pencil, and any handout the substitute gives you. Your assignments will be turned in for a completion grade. Please read this ENTIRE page, and do ALL of the work on this page in order to receive credit. You will turn this in at the beginning of next class. You do not need your binder, folder, recorder, purple book, green book, or instrument today, unless otherwise noted.
Substitutes have copies of any work you may be missing as well.
All Classes:
The following are rules for ANY time Mr. Smith is absent:
ALL band room rules, procedures, and policies remain in effect. See your handbooks if you have questions.
Under no circumstances are you to play any instrument. Do not go near ANY percussion equipment or accessories. Please stay behind the red tape.
Under no circumstances are you to be in ANY side room--the exception being band students may drop off or collect their instruments at the beginning and end of the day from the instrument room.
The desk, podium, and surrounding areas are strictly off limits.
The first and last blocks need to set up the room/stack chairs and stands.
Today we are working independently.
5th Grade Music:
Please complete any and all missing work you have yet to turn in FIRST. This is YOUR opportunity to get 100% caught up if you are missing any assignments. Your substitute has a list of who is missing assignments. You may also email me if you have any questions. You should have completed your day one questionnaire, bandroom procedures pop quiz, returned contract, musical alphabet assignment (e-learning assignment posted to Google Classroom on your snow day. Make sure you fill out and submit the Google Form for credit), rhythm counting packet, and treble clef note naming homework.
Complete this quick review packet. Your substitute will give you a copy in class.
Complete the Chrome Music Lab assignment using any time left in class. Visit https://musiclab.chromeexperiments.com/Song-Maker and make some fun music! Click SAVE once you are done. Click COPY LINK. Open your school email, click COMPOSE. For the SUBJECT of the song, give it a creative title. Paste the link you copied (ctrl V) into the BODY of the email. Send that to kjsmith@lexrich5.org. Make as many songs as you like and we'll listen to some in class.
Chrome Music Lab helpful hints: Don't draw a picture, make music. Start from the bottom to the top. Add a drum, bet, then add some low notes right above that (the bass line). Then add some music on top to make the melody.
Anything not finished must be completed for homework.
TURNING IN ASSIGNMENTS: Drop off any COMPLETED assignments with your FIRST and LAST name, and block, into the bucket on the substitute table labeled "CLASSWORK/HOMEWORK DROP BOX."
6th Grade Band:
Complete ANY and ALL missing assignments FIRST. This is YOUR opportunity to get 100% caught up if you are missing any assignments. Your substitute has a list of who is missing any assignment. You may also email me if you have any questions. You should have completed the KEY SIGNATURES & ACCIDENTALS WORKSHEET (treble clef | bass clef) that we did a few weeks ago, and your Order of Flats & Sharps E-Learning assignment that you did during the snow day. This is posted to your Google Classroom, and you must complete the Google Form attached to the assignment to receive credit.
Complete this music theory packet (TREBLE CLEF | BASS CLEF). Your substitute has a copy, so you do not need to print anything.. This is a review of everything you should know thus far. Please use your green book to help you. When you are finished, drop it in the CLASSWORK/HOMEWORK DROP bin on the substitute table with your FIRST and LAST name, and block written on it. MAKE SURE YOU HAVE THE CORRECT CLEF!
Complete the beginner band notecard assignment. Your substitute will give you all the materials. Please watch this video for detailed instructions. There's a lot of info, so read the sheet carefully. This should be a fun assignment!
You may submit Chrome Music Lab songs ONLY IF all other work is completed.
