The 2025-2026 school year Solo & Ensemble Festival will be on April 18 & 19th, 2026, at Dutch Fork High School. Registrations will be due on February 26, 2026.

Solo & Ensemble festival is an official South Carolina Band Directors Association event, where students have the opportunity to prepare a solo and/or a small ensemble (duet, trio, etc., with friends), and make new friends and band connections from other schools around the midlands. Each and every band student would benefit greatly from participating in this.
Hosted by the Palmetto Center for the Arts at Richland-Northeast High School, the Tri-District Arts Consortium is open to rising 6th-9th graders in all areas of the arts, and takes place from June 8 - 26.
Students who have been nominated and plan on auditioning for TriDAC are encouraged to work with Mr. Smith during homeroom on their audition material. Your $10 audition fee must be paid by February 17th. Auditions will be on March 7, 2026.
The 2026 Region Band Clinic & Concert will be held on Friday & Saturday, February 27-28 at Lexington High School for any student who made the ensemble. All-State Band Clinic & Concert will be held on Friday-Sunday, March 13-15 at Furman University in Greenville for any D5 student who made that ensemble.
The following Information and Audition Packets are for our 2026 auditions that were held in January of 2026 and are for reference only. Information for the 2027 Region 2 and All-State Bands will be posted once it becomes available. Please note, that audition requirements are subject to change, and that your 2027 solos will be different as well.

*Percussion can sign up for EITHER Battery (snare)/Mallets, OR timpani, but not both. Students auditioning on Battery/Mallets will be required to audition on both snare and mallets. Students selected for region/all-state band on Battery/Mallets will need to be familiar with all auxilary instruments and playing techniques, such as on cymbals, triangle, bass drum, etc.
The top few chairs for the South Carolina All-State band will automatically place in the SC All-State orchestra.
Chapin Intermediate School will participate in Concert Performance Assessment once we become Chapin Middle School for the 2027-2028 school year.
All Chapin Intermediate School band students are HIGHLY encouraged to visit Pre-CPA at Irmo Performing Arts Center on Thursday, March 5, 2026 to see CMS and CHS bands perform, and to hear feedback from master clinicians. This will be a great preview of what you will do starting in 7th grade at CMS and SHMS.
