“Hello.” A familiar voice calls behind me, it sounds like gravel, I know who it is.
“Milo.” I turn to face him. My hand squeezes my girlfriend’s. Just like I had planned, she unsheathes her dagger. She hastily tries to slash his face, but Milo quickly deflects it. Milo grabs the dagger from her.
An explosion erupts behind Milo.
“See that?” He asks, pointing to the explosion. “That was supposed to be lit 20.34 minutes ago. But do you know how long the next explosion will take?” He walks a circle around me. He leans into my face and says: “Exactly 1.52 minutes. Interesting isn’t it, that my life could feel so short, but yours so long, though we were only born seconds apart?”
I spit in his face. “Cut it out.” I snarl. “All you've done are crimes. Your whole life is all crimes. Why don’t you shut your little mouth, because I know you are only spouting cr*p.”
Milo laughs. He hands me a clear piece of something in the shape of a onesie, with a metal button on the center of it. I don’t take it.
“Put it on. You’ll need it.” Milo says. I don’t take it. “Fine.” He grumbles. He pushes the button, and then tosses the thing on me. It immediately covers my body head to toe. I scramble to take it off, but it refuses.
“It’s a space suit. It can handle pretty much anything, things like the world exploding.” Milo says.
“Are you joking about this? What are you even saying?” I ask. “Why would I need a space suit?”
Milo cracks a sinister smile. I grip my girlfriend’s hand again.
“3, 2…” Milo smiles. “Hahaha! Finally, the time has come for me, you, every…!!” A pause. “ONE!!”
The world explodes. I am shot up into outer space, watching the Earth explode. Now I get it. Milo wants to torture me even when he is dead. Dead. When everyone is dead. He wants me to see the world end at my feet, so he can make sure I know all is gone. That HE did this. So I would suffer. So I would know why he kept joking about the world ending for his whole life.
Tears stream down my face and I scream a blood curdling scream. I am shrieking so loud with so many tears coming down my face. There is now blood coming out of my nose and ears, and I am so, so, done with this… this… LIFE. I want to take off my space suit but I can’t.
And finally, FINALLY, my voice goes out. I see the world flash before my eyes, and I can feel spirits lifting me up and away from the Earth, into the continuous void of outer space. I look behind me to see people, actual PEOPLE, lifting me up into the void. I look in front of me again. But there it is. MILO. Smiling his horrid smile. I squeak out my last shriek before blacking out, then dying.
The world has ended. Humanity is lost, for good or maybe for worse, everything is gone. Everything.
“Walk the plank you filthy heap!” I heard a harsh cry. My name is One-eye Jack. And I could feel the tip of Cap’n Skully’s sword jab me in my back. I shuffled my feet forward. I could hear the shouts from my fellow sailors. “Walk the plank!”, they all shouted. Then I realized why I was in this mess. "It was all his fault," I thought with bitterness. It was all because of my brother. “I’ll get you for this Bill,” I whispered silently. Oh, yes I will.
I was struggling in the ocean current, and the waves were dragging me down. I screamed for help, but I knew that no one could hear me in the vast, endless ocean. I was struggling when I saw something in the distance. “Yes!” I cried. It was a far away deserted island! I started to swim toward the island when I saw it. A fin. It was heading straight toward me. Frantically, I reached for my waist where my sword was. I felt nothing. Then I remembered that Cap'n Skully had taken it away. The fin belonged to a shark who was roaring down on me. Then I remembered that I had a little dagger inside my boot. I shoved my hand into my boot and grasped the carved handle and pulled it out. Then I slammed it into the oncoming shark. There was a moment of silence and then the shark shook its head wildly. I saw my golden dagger stuck on its nose. I quickly swam through the water, now red with blood. As I neared the island I could hear swishing sounds behind me. I knew that the enraged shark was right behind me. I swam wildly. Then, I raced onto land, leaving the shark behind me.
I gasped for air. It felt like my lungs were about to burst. I raced away from the shore, putting distance from the shark and me. Then I gazed around at the island. I saw so many things like bones lying out in the sun and far away on the island, I saw a forest. I walked closer, and then I heard it. The sound of voices coming from the other side of the forest. I walked closer to investigate. Then, I saw the worst thing ever.
I saw an enemy pirate ship heading toward the island. If they spotted me, I was dead meat. I raced for cover, heading into the thick underbrush. Just then, something tripped me. I looked back to see a skeleton, a human skeleton! I looked at it and spotted a sword nearby. I snatched the sword, knowing that if they found me I could fight back. I peeked out from behind a nearby tree. I saw three pirates rowing a small boat to the island. I knew that the crew was much larger than that. I continued to run through the trees, trying to get away from the pirates. Just then, a twig cracked under my boot. The pirates looked up from where they were docking the little boat. Then they ran to investigate what was in the forest. I held my sword up, ready to fight. I crouched down, trying to hide myself. But they saw me. They charged toward me, yelling and holding up their swords. I got up and started to run. I looked back to see that there was only one pirate behind me. Where were the others? Just then something hard slammed into me from the front. I looked up to see the other two pirates standing over me.
“You're coming with us!" said the first pirate. He was a nasty looking guy. There was a hook where his left hand was supposed to be. He grabbed me by the front of my shirt and said, “Tie him up fellas.” I felt a hard, rough rope tied around my hands. Then they shoved me to their small rowboat. I saw the great ship looming over the rowboat as we got closer. I saw the flag. It was black with a skull and two crossed swords. They took me aboard the ship and yelled,
“Captain Shadows, come look at what we found on the island.” I gasped. Captain Shadows was the most feared pirate of all time!
A man all dressed in black stepped out of the captain’s cabin. “Well well well, what do we have here?” He said in a raspy voice. “We found him on the island,” replied the leader of the group. Captain Shadows studied me for a second.
“Throw him in the cell. He is no use to me,” he said. They started to shove me toward a cabin on the left of the ship. Then they locked me up in a cold cell. They took my sword so that I couldn't escape. After they had gone, I thought of what I was going to do next. I was determined to escape and get my revenge on Bill. I struggled to move my hands free of the ropes. I positioned my hands so that they were up against a sharp rock. Then I pulled with all my strength.
“Ugghhhhh.” I groaned with the effort. But then I heard a loud “SNAP!” I stumbled forward and almost crashed into the wall. Then I looked at my hands. I was free! I looked around for something I could use to get out of the cell. I saw nothing useful to get me out of here. Just then, I heard the sailors coming to check on me. I quickly hid the broken ropes, and sat with my hands behind my back. They checked on me, then when they were going out, I quickly and silently got up and reached my hand through the bars. I managed to grab the hilt of a dagger and pulled it out. I flashed back to my spot and looked innocent. Then, when they were gone, I walked to the bars and holding the dagger carefully, I used it to pick the lock and free myself. Carefully, I walked out of my cell, and into a room marked storage. When I looked in, I gasped. Inside were all different types of swords and weapons. I ran in and took daggers and knives, and swords of all different kinds. I quickly tucked them into different places, knowing that I would need them if I were to escape. Then, I walked up the creaky steps, sword bared. I could hear voices as I neared.
Then, I leaped out of the shadows and attacked. Sailors screamed as I struck them down. Then, a black shadow zoomed past in front of me and attacked me. Captain Shadows! The injured sailors dragged themselves up and watched as metal clanged against metal. Blood splattered on the deck as he counter attacked. Then with one swift blow to his throat, it was all over. I put one foot on top of Captain Shadow’s dead body, and said, “This is my ship now. You are now my crew. Anyone who objects can end up like him,” I said, menacingly. No one objected, so I didn’t have to kill anyone else. “Set sail toward Pirate Cove!” I yell. Cap’n Skully would be there for sure. We started sailing, and soon we saw the bay of Pirate Cove. Suddenly, a cannonball whizzed past the front of the ship. We were being attacked! I sailed my ship closer then, “Attack!” I yelled. We swung onto the other ship on ropes, then started fighting. I found my target. Bill. He was the whole reason I was in this mess. I leaped at him, sword gleaming. We fought, steel clanging against steel. “I’ll never forgive you for what you did, Bill,” I hissed.
“I don’t expect you to,” he growled back. I leaped back just in time to feel the tip of Bill’s sword graze my throat. Blood gushed out but I kept on fighting. I leaped at him and whoosh! He was dead from one quick strike. Then I fell down, my eyesight blurry. Blood soaked my shirt. Then I collapsed, never to wake up again.
