School Nurses And Life Threatening Allergies Education: The Bowman School Food Allergy Support Group was started in 2014 by Jean Claffey, RN, Bowman School Nurse. An educational video about food allergy awareness was developed from excerpts of meetings during the 2016-17 and 2017-18 school years. The video was shown to all kindergarten through Grade 2 students in June 2019 and was followed by a student-led question and answer session. A pre and post video questionnaire was administered and clearly demonstrated an increased awareness about food allergies. A similar presentation is planned for all Grade 3-5 students during the 2019-20 school year. To view the video, click on the link below:
