Senior Scholarships

Ann Regina McGrath Memorial Scholarship (Jad Shalabi & Akeem Maxwell): This award is given to an LHS senior who has overcome obstacles in their own life. Preference may be given, but is not limited to a person touched by cancer.

Anne Borghesani Memorial Scholarship (Selena Davis): This award recognizes a graduating senior who demonstrates a strong commitment to LHS, the larger community, family, and friends.

Barclay Schultz Spirit of '76 award (Patrick Crogan & Jamahl Cruickshank): Barclay was a classmate and loyal friend of the Lexington High School Class of 1976. He died in 1990 while awaiting a lung transplant after having just had a heart transplant. Barc was an outstanding athlete-student at LHS. After high school he went to Brown University. The scholarship is awarded to 1-2 Lexington High School senior athletes who have financial need and plan to attend a four year university.

Carolyn E. McCabe Scholarship (Emma Stump): This scholarship is for a female or nonbinary athlete playing a varsity sport who best exemplifies good sportsmanship on the field of play and brings spirit and fun to the game.

Christine Martin Memorial Scholarship (Skylar Spencer): This award is given to a senior who plans to pursue a career working with children in any capacity. The qualifying candidate should have a history of volunteer work or be active in the fight to prevent drinking and driving.

Classmates Today, Neighbors Tomorrow' Brotherhood (Thomas Lane ): This award goes to one exceptional student that promotes a genuine feeling of brotherhood and goodwill.

DAR Good Citizen's Award (Maya Shimron): The student selected must have the qualities of dependability (which includes truthfulness, loyalty, and punctuality); service (which includes cooperation, courtesy, and consideration of others); leadership (which includes personality, self-control, and ability to assume responsibility); and patriotism (which includes unselfish interest in family, school, community and nation) to an outstanding degree.

James B. Duke at Davidson Scholarship (Thomas Li Lane): In keeping with the life of Mr. Duke, these high achieving students will demonstrate through their admission application and a required supplement that their academic achievement, concern for others, diverse talents and experience, potential for impact, resilience and work ethic give evidence of their capacity to make a difference in the world.

June Denk Award (Ali Mosallaei): The award is given to a graduating Lexington High School senior who has worked in the student library and/or made extensive use of the library.

Honey Dew Donuts (Esther Ng): For a student who will attend an accredited four-year college or university, maintains a B- average or better, and participates in local community/charitable activities.

Isaac Harris Cary Educational Fund ( Selena Davis, Umme Habiba, Alexander Hwang, Samin Jayaswal, Isabelle Mazerall, Marielsa McBride, Madeline Murphy, Jad Shalabi, Skylar Spencer, Gaeun Suh, Yiquan (Frank) Zhang, Yiming (Simon) Zhang): A renewable scholarship for students who are needing and worthy.

J.W. Hayden Recreation Centre Scholarship (Sofia Rezvani, Vinuji Senalya Siriwardena, Julien Song, Gema Fandila-Bunce,

Regina Tashjian, Samin Jayaswal, Milo Gorry-Hines, Erica Riley, Claudia Hart, Yiquan Zhang, Skylar Spencer, Hank Whalen): The J.W. Hayden Recreation Center offers scholarships to Lexington residents or to students that attend a school in Lexington, MA that are enrolling in a full-time post-secondary program

Jesi Watson Memorial Scholarship (Lily Georgopolous): The scholarship will be awarded to a Senior at LHS who is either a true animal lover OR a Senior who has demonstrated activity and interest in a career in cancer or medical science. Jesi Watson passed away in September, 2014 after being diagnosed with leukemia in 2010 and undergoing a bone marrow transplant in 2014. The scholarship honors Jesi's deep interest in science and her compassion for, and deep love of, all animals and her volunteer activities to support their care

The Jessica Bussgang Rosenbloom Skating Prize (Julien Song): The Jessica Bussgang Rosenbloom Skating Award will be awarded to a LHS sophomore, junior or senior student who has excelled both academically and in figure skating.

The Kathleen H. Williams Fine Arts Scholarship (Freddy Famiglietti, Maya Shimron):- Each year, a deserving senior from Lexington High School will be selected by the Visual Arts Faculty. To qualify, the applicant must be planning on attending college and pursuing studies in the fine arts, and must exemplify those qualities which are so inherently Kathleen's.

The Kent J. Riley Charitable Fund (Sandy Raman, Allison Libby, Hannah Steinbrecher, Lilly Mackenzie, Dilara Bahadir): The fund was established in 2014 to honor Kent J. Riley, a scientist who volunteered his time to community youth sports organizations so that all children would have a spot on a team if they desired. The mission of the scholarship is to provide financial assistance to individuals who participated in youth sports and are enrolling in undergraduate study in STEM, medical or allied health professions.

The Lexington Arts and Crafts Society (Freddy Famiglietti, Maya Shimron): Each year, since 1960, the Lexington Arts and Crafts Society presents a number of art scholarships in order to further art education at accredited art schools and colleges for aspiring artists. Most of this funding is awarded to high school seniors, who are selected from candidates recommended by their school's Visual Arts Departments.

Lexington Education Association Scholarship (Isabelle Mazerall, Selena Davis): Provides scholarships for seniors at LHS who are children or grandchildren of Lexington educators or Lexington town employees and have financial need.

Lexington Golf Scholarship (Jimin Park): For a graduating senior who is a member of the LHS Golf Team and is accepted at an accredited college.

Lexington Lions Club (Isabelle Mazerall, Patrick Crogan and Skylar Spencer): The Lions Club of Lexington provides scholarship funding to high school seniors accepted at or attending an accredited college or university. Qualified applicants must demonstrate a commitment to community service; have financial need and academic excellence. Preference will be given to Lexington residents, graduates of either Lexington Senior High School or Minuteman Regional High School and those applicants interested in pursuing a vocational technical major.

Lexington Pediatrics (Xaviera Bastien): The staff of Lexington Pediatrics as part of their community outreach has established a scholarship to be given to a graduating senior who has demonstrated a commitment of service to his/her community. The award is given annually to a college bound graduating senior. The recipient of the award should be of strong moral character, exemplify both leadership and compassion, and shall have shown selflessness and dedication in the advancement of others.

Lexington Rotary Club Scholarship (Skylar Spencer, Alexander Hwang, Regina Tashjian, Marielsa McBride, Patrick Crogan, Madeline Murphy, Samin Jayaswal): The Rotary Club of Lexington issues scholarships to graduating Lexington seniors inclusive of the Metco Program. Qualified recipients are chosen based upon four criteria: financial need, grades, extra-curricular school activities and community service.

Lexington Toyota - Bob Farias Scholarship (Skylar Spencer, Catherine Aggouras and Emma Stump): The scholarship is awarded to two senior athletes: (1) an athlete who identifies as male or who identifies as nonbinary who plays on a male basketball team, and (2) an athlete who identifies as female or who identifies as nonbinary and plays on a female basketball team. This person is enthusiastic and passionate in everything that they do - on and off the basketball court.

The Lexington Whitsons Wellness Achievement Award (Josh Lee, Emma Stump): The Lexington Wellness Achievement Award will be given to a senior who has significantly displayed commitment and involvement in wellness activities within the Lexington Public Schools and the Lexington community. The student will have demonstrated exemplary leadership, been involved in peer mentoring, and displayed a high level of commitment to healthy lifestyles through dedication to physical activity, sports, and nutrition practices. Preference will be given to a student that meets the above criteria and/or student headed for college in the culinary arts or related field. This award is sponsored by Whitson's Culinary Group.

Lexington-Bedford Youth Hockey (Regina Tashjian, Allison Libby, Angelina Minasian, Erica Riley, Elizabeth Kelly): The Lexington Bedford Youth Hockey Scholarship goes to qualified LHS seniors who have participated in any of the Lexington Bedford Youth Hockey programs. They need not be varsity high school players.

Sandra L. Davies Unsung Hero Award in Visual Arts (Rafael Torres Chavez): In the spring of 2014, FOLMADS created a second Sandra L. Davies Unsung Hero Award for the Visual Arts Department. The award is presented annually to a graduating senior who has demonstrated "selfless dedication" to the visual arts department during his or her time at Lexington High School. The Art faculty chooses the recipient; the award is presented in the spring.

Srinivasu Meka Scholarship Fund (Alexander Hwang): Srini Meka (Class of 1991) truly cared about people, about friendship, love and respect. In the years after his death his passion for life and sense of humor continue to affect his friends and family. This scholarship is awarded to a Lexington High School senior who exemplifies some of Srini's qualities.For a Lexington High School senior planning to attend a four-year college.

World Language Awards (3):

The Nicholas Barnett Award (Julia Arnold): This award goes to a student (senior) who demonstrates excellence in and enthusiasm for the study of multiple languages.

Chinese American Association of Lexington Scholarship Award (Philippa Fletcher, Theodore Haddad, Evan MacLure, Sarah Lane): This award goes to a student (senior) who demonstrates excellence in and enthusiasm for the Mandarin language and Chinese culture.

The Rafe Jenanyan Award (Sarah Baskin): This award goes to a student (senior) who demonstrates excellence in and enthusiasm for the French language and Francophone cultures.
