We are delighted to announce that today marks the eagerly awaited fashion show, a culmination of creativity and style from 125 artists from the 8th grade class. 

To our fashion models: your presence is requested in room 152 promptly at 1:30 pm. For our other 8th grade art students, we invite you to gather in the cafeteria for WIN. 

While the fashion show is open only to invited 8th graders, we extend a warm welcome to all faculty and staff members. Your presence would enrich our celebration and we encourage you to join us in witnessing the talents of our 8th grade students.

Today is National Endangered Species Day. There are 432 native plant and animal species currently protected under the Massachusetts Endangered Species Act.  You can help these species such as the American Bumblebee, by planting native plants in your garden, for example, and protecting their habitats.

A HUGE congratulations to this year's Science Bowl Team as they represented the state of Massachusetts at this year's National Science Bowl competition in Washington, DC over the weekend. The team did amazing by placing in the Top 10 and Top 8 in their cyber challenge! If you see Rajarshi Mandal, Kevin Zhang, Ethan Le, Yinghan Lui, and Alex Chen make sure to congratulate them. Ms. Factor could not be prouder.

Please congratulate Green Team members Julia Byrne (8th), Ayushi Hande (8th), Sophia Turzhitsky (8th) and Arjun Wassan (6th) who spoke at Town Meeting on pressing environmental issues last night and earlier this month. Congratulations also to 6th grader Tahir Kayikci who sent in his written statement.  It is thanks to these students that THREE environmental articles passed at Town Meeting which will ultimately make Lexington a greener community.

The Green Team would like to wish everyone a very Happy Earth Day!  Today is the perfect day to thank the Earth by giving back.  Volunteer to help out at the waste station during lunch, limit food waste, properly recycle and compost, use a reusable water bottle, reduce plastic use, conserve energy, plant native plants …Focus on one of these ways today and every day to make a big difference!

As we approach the upcoming Youth Art Month in March, we are excited to share some art news. Talia Ellsworth will be representing Diamond. The town will be displaying their work on banners in Lexington Center next week. Congratulations, Talia!


We would also like to recognize two Diamond art students for their achievements in the 2023-2024 Scholastic Art Awards. Olanna Johnson received an honorable mention, and Gabriella Andrews earned a Gold Key. Diamond alum Alice Fang was also presented with an honorable mention for her work. Their talents exemplify excellence and enrich our artistic community. Congratulations!!!


Last but not least, we are pleased to announce the ongoing art exhibit at the Cary Library showcasing remarkable artworks from the Diamond art community. This captivating display will be available for viewing throughout the month of March. We invite you to seize the opportunity to explore the magnificent creations crafted by the talented artists at Diamond.

The correct answer to yesterday’s trivia question is Crispus Attucks, a sailor of mixed African and Indigenous ancestry, died in Boston on March 5, 1770 after British soldiers fired two musket balls into his chest. His death and that of four other men at the hands of the 29th Regiment became known as the Boston Massacre.


Fact #5: Barack Obama is an American politician who served as the 44th president of the United States from 2009 to 2017. A member of the Democratic Party, he was the first African-American president in U.S. history. This is a friendly reminder that Black History is American History and should be celebrated all year! A HUGE Congratulations to this years Science Bowl team that competed over the weekend. Each team did extremely well and 2 of the 3 teams advanced to the double Elimination round. It was here that Diamonds A team had to face Clarke A team. For the first time in Diamond Science Bowl History Diamond beat Clarke to make it to Nationals in Washington DC.

Today’s Fact is: July 8 is officially known as Quock Walker Day or Massachusetts Emancipation Day to recognize the declaration of rights that rendered slavery unconstitutional in Massachusetts, Bill H. 3117 was signed by Governor Charlie Baker on November 1, 2022. Quock Walker was an enslaved American who sued for and won his freedom suit case in June 1781.

Today starts our first full week of Black History Month. Black History Month is an annual celebration of achievements by African Americans and a time for recognizing their central role in U.S. history. Look out for fun posters around the building.


This week is National School Counseling Week. The purpose of the week is to focus attention on the unique contribution of school counselors within the school system and highlight the tremendous impact school counselors can have in helping students achieve school success. We would like to say thank you to all the entire Diamond counseling team for all their support.


We are also celebrating the Lunar New Year this week. To celebrate the Lunar New Year, we will have a Trivia question each day this week.

The Final Middle School Football game is tomorrow, November 10th at 3:00 pm. It would be great if you could come support the team and cheer them on.


On Monday, 11/13, the Culture Club would like to invite all interested students to celebrate Diwali, known as "the festival of lights" (which is this Sunday 11/12) at school by dressing in traditional Indian attire or colorful clothing. The student council will take a picture of all participants for the yearbook during extended homeroom on Monday, Day 1 in the front lobby.

Your Diamond Boys Varsity Soccer Team ended their season yesterday in a thrilling back-and-forth, 0-0 tie  against a very late Wayland. Man of the Match again went to Mick “The Maestro” Karmilowicz for an epic performance in the net. Diamond Field Hockey won 1-0 versus Watertown yesterday. The only goal of the game was scored by Alicia with an assist from Lydia. Shout out to Pelli, Eshal, Asees, Lily,  and Elle for playing strong defensively. Diamond also had its first shut out thanks to goalkeeper Zoey. Diamond goals came from Justin “el Matador” Herrara Rapalo and Noah “master oogwai” Kim with assists from Abdur “the cisco Kid”Alarape and Daris”mini-messi” Ndiaye. Shout outs to keeper Mick “the Magician” Karmilowicz and Kyle “don’t go there” Li for solid halves in net and special shout-out to Henrique “the machine” Dos Santos for some inspired runs throughout the game. Celebrate National Walk & Roll to School Day tomorrow! 


Wednesday, October 4th we're encouraging as many Diamond students as possible to arrive at school via their own power. Walk, bike, scooter, etc. are all great ways to travel! If you ride a bike or scooter, and lock it up outside for the day, check your bike or scooter  when you head out for the day. Some lucky students will find Rancs' gift cards waiting for them! 


Diamond field hockey won 2-1 in an exciting game against Carlisle yesterday. Offense did an awesome job keeping the ball in our possession and defense was quick to get the ball out of the circle.  8th grader Mila scored the first goal of the game. Carlisle tied the game in the last 3 minutes, but Diamond kept their composure and had a last minute goal also scored by Mila to win the game. Great job to both goalies Elle and Zoey. Go Diamond field hockey!
