Winners in 7th and 8th grade are Nicole, Julia, Sydney, Helene, Lale, Brynn, Celia, Ellie, Siena, Sofia, Ella, Nitsa and Charlotte. Bravo!

Wednesday, November 27, Day 6


Today’s lunch is a McGriddle Sausage Sandwich.


Diamond basketball tryouts begin on Monday, December 2 for the boys only. The 6th and 7th grade boys will have their tryout from 2:50 - 4:20. All girls that registered will tryout on Tuesday and not Monday. Again, all girls tryouts will be on Tuesday, December 3rd, from 2:50 - 4:20. The 8th grade boys will have their tryout on Tuesday, December 3rd from 4:20 - 5:45.


Reminder - there will be no Boston late bus today after school.


ALL Students: we need your help with lunch today.   On half days we have noticed that lunch times are a little more energetic than on normal days, perhaps because so many of you aren’t eating.  Please help us keep the cafeteria calm and clean by staying in your seats and doing a particularly good job cleaning up.  The lunch monitors only have a minute or two after lunch dismissal to prepare for the next lunch.   Again, please stay in your seats during lunch. 


You can help to improve your recycling habits at Diamond by recycling plastic and composting properly, but you can also take it a step further! Bring your batteries and markers to be recycled and put them in the boxes set up at the front of the school to help make the planet a greener and healthier place for all.

Did you know that you can help make the planet a healthier and greener place right here at Diamond? This school year, Diamond has gathered over 500 pounds of plastic to recycle! You can help with this effort by disposing of your #2 and #4 plastic bags and film in the bins set up next to the entrances of school.  This includes all types of plastic bags - shopping, bread, cereal and produce bags!

Did you know that 12% of trash in Lexington is tires, textiles, and other bulky items? Textiles include fabric, fibers, cloth or materials used to make fabrics. You can help fix this issue by reusing your textiles at home, or by dropping off unwanted clothing, shoes, and other textiles for donation right in the bin next to the bike rack located at the back of the school.

Did you know that Lexington now recycles or composts 60.79% of our waste, keeping around 12 thousand tons of waste out of landfills each year? Lexington's community compost drop off bins alone have led to over 260,000 pounds of waste diverted! You can help with this by making sure to properly compost what you can in the cafeteria during lunch.

Did you know that most of the trash generated in Lexington consists of both readily recyclable and compostable materials? This is especially important now because it's been predicted that Massachusetts will run out of landfill space by 2030! You can make a difference and help be a part of the solution of this issue right here at Diamond by making sure to properly recycle, compost and dispose of your waste in the right bins.


Cookie Dough Orders will be in on Thursday, November 21. If you submitted an order, please arrange with your family to come to the cafeteria between 3:00 and 5:00 pm for pickup. All orders need to be picked up and delivered that day.

Today is National America Recycles Day, which is a day all about spreading the word on how recycling helps us reduce waste, save energy, and conserve precious resources. However, America Recycles Day isn’t just a one-day thing – it’s a chance to look at your recycling habits and make changes that will last. You can do this right here at Diamond by placing recycling in the bins around the school, and making sure to compost what you can correctly.

The Diaper Drive, Beantown Baby Diaper Bank from Lexington, MA has volunteered to help the 1 in 2 families who can’t afford diapers. Our annual diaper drive will be held from 4th to 14th November, and drop-off bins will be at the front and back of the school. All the Diamond sixth graders have read the book Invisible and it has taught us a very important message to always help those in need. Please help donate and no amount is too small or too big. Musical Announcement Meeting! Wednesday 3-4PM in the auditorium. Come and find out what the musical will be. Learn about how auditions are run, how to sign up for auditions and apply for stage crew and ask any questions you may have about the process. 


This year, all sixth-grade students read the book Invisible by Christina Gonzalez. In this book, the main characters of the story all participated in community service, and the 6th graders at Diamond want to do so too! We will be organizing a diaper drive supporting Beantown Baby Diaper Bank here in Lexington, from November 4th to November 14th. Did you know that disposable diapers for a single baby will cost approximately $70 per month and $840 per year? We invite everyone to participate so that we can support families in need!

Good morning Diamond Middle School! Did you know that babies need to change their diapers every two hours? That's about 12 diapers each day! Recently the sixth graders read a book called Invisible, by Christina Gonzalez. It showed us the importance of coming together to help the people in our community. You can help our community by taking part in our Diaper Drive with Beantown Baby Diaper Bank from November 4-14 and donating unused clean diapers to families who are unable to afford them. You can also order from the via Bean Town Baby Diaper Banks Amazon Wish list! Sizes 4, 5, 6, and 7 are of the greatest need! Drop off your diapers at either the front or back of the school and help all those in need. Every diaper counts!

Diamond field hockey defended their home field yesterday for the last time and won against Watertown 3-2. The first goal of the game was a team effort, the second goal of the game was scored by Asees on a penalty corner and the third goal of the game was scored by Eshal in a smart and quick play in the circle. Your Boys Varsity Team dropped a heartbreaker yesterday, falling to Hanscom 4-3. The Diamond attack was ferocious, especially in the second half, with Zuhair and Frank  orchestrating wave after wave of attacks that would bring us level only for the ref to award Hanscom with suspect penalties. But in the immortal words of Ted Lasso, “We will be goldfishes”. Go Diamond Soccer!

Your Diamond Boys Varsity Soccer team took on cross town rivals Clarke yesterday, defeating them handedly 3-0. Diamond goals were notched by Daris, Zuhair and Sam, with key assists by Zuhair, Eli and Frank. Special shout-out to Ricky “the Sandman” Han for another clean sheet in net. Go Diamond Soccer!


Diamond field hockey fell to Clarke yesterday but played a strong game. Shoutout to Mihika for scoring. Both teams were complemented by the refs for being highly skilled and playing great games. Diamond was able to keep the ball in our possession for most of the game, and played really well. Shoutout to Tara, Eshal, Victoria, Marlie, and Audrey for playing great games defensively! Notching more goals for their season were Zuhair, Gabe, and Co-Captain Kerem “who doesn’t eat dirt”. Scoring their first goals this season were Zuhair’s baby brother Ahmad “don’t give me any sugar” Farenah and Kereem “Call Me Mister” Ilaj.

The lone goal of the day came from Daris “did you see that?” Ndiaye’s lovely header off of a cross from Frank”I used to eat dirt-now I eat clay” Agresta. Rookie Keeper Sensation Ricky “the Sandman” Han once again pulled out some clutch saves, while the D-Lines bend but don’t break play gummed up Watertown’s attack. Shout-out to Kereem “reliable as a K-car” Ilaj for helping to anchor the defense and one last shout-out to the Watertown Coach- for the loudest recorded voice ever on the sideline. A composed and relentless Diamond attack just could not find the back of the net. Shout-outs to Rookie Keeper sensation Ricky “The Sandman” Han for some spectacular saves, while  Zuhair “Too Sweet” Fareneh and Frank “The Little Heathen” Agresta quarterbacked the Diamond attack.

The Girls' soccer team has a game against Lincoln today. Players should be out for the bus by 3pm.  We will meet outside the gym by the bench. Wear your uniform. Shinguards and a bottle of water are mandatory please bring them.

Our annual cookie dough fundraiser is up and running. If you did not get an order packet, we have some extras in the office. There are prizes for top sellers in each grade level, so don’t delay in getting your sales going. Orders will be due to homeroom teachers on September 30.


Intramural basketball registration is now open. Registration can be found on the Diamond Athletics page. There will be two sessions, one on Monday / Wednesday and another on Tuesday / Thursday. The program will run from 2:50 - 4:20, and will start on October 1.


If you have PE today, please bring your Chromebook to class.

Shake It Up! A Shakespearean Mashup takes some of Shakespeare's most well-known scenes, monologues and sonnets and shakes them up in the contemporary setting of the Globe Theatre in London. Your favorite Shakespearean characters, a director, actors and stagehands interact in this fast-paced comedy. Enjoy an evening of sword fights, slapstick and heart-felt performances!
