Curriculum, Instruction, & Assessment in LPS

The heart of the Lexington Public Schools’ Office of Curriculum and Instruction is focused on ensuring high-quality, aligned, curriculum is being implemented effectively at all levels, a robust assessment and data analysis process continually informs decision making, and increasing teacher skills and practices that advance students’ academic achievement and social-emotional well-being. To that end the Office of Curriculum & Instruction strives to continuously support an integrated curriculum, instruction, assessment, and professional learning system.

The Office of Curriculum and Instruction serves all administrators and teachers K–12 in the Lexington Public Schools. The Office oversees and/or coordinates work with other departments to refine curriculum, instruction, and assessment practices; provides training in support of Special Education and English Language Learning in the regular education setting; and supports district wide initiatives relevant to diversity, equity, and inclusion. Goals of this office include: continual alignment and updating of all curricula in the Lexington Public Schools with State and National Frameworks; vertical and horizontal articulation of curricula in all twelve program areas K–12; ongoing assessment and data analyses; cyclical program evaluation; oversight of federal entitlement grants; and liaison work with building principals and all of the district’s program leaders including Special Education, Pre-K, K–5, 6–8, 9–12 Department Heads, and K–12 Coordinators.
