In the fall, second graders will study soil, its origins, the role of living things in making it and the importance of living and non-living components of soil. In winter, the students will study temperature and the resulting different states of water. Finally, in the spring, students will discover and compare the habitats of insects. Close observations will be made of insects and their behaviors in the school yard.
Note: All adults who work with children in the Big Backyard program must have a valid CORI . Please click here to fill out a CORI form. CORI checks are good for 3 years.
